| I'd advocate Hodgson on the basis that Morley & Graham - both outstanding candidates - have not improved the relative positions of their teams, whereas Hodgson has had IMO a marked impact on the performance of his whole team.
I know that the coaching staff have had a major influence on this but their impact stops the moment the whistle blows.
Compare the Giants last season with Thorman (mostly) the last line of defence & principal goalkicker, with this season's Giants.
The main difference has been Hodgson.
Have the candidates for Young Player of the Year & Coach of the Year been anounced?
FWIW, my winners would be Ryan Hall and John Kear. But I would expect both Nathan Brown, Justin Morgan & Terry Matterson to be mentioned too.

| Am I the only one who's underwhelmed by Hodgson's inclusion. He's a good player, and had a good season but better than Senior, Peacock, or Dobson? I don't think so.
Morley to win out of thos 3.

| Who is the James Graham that is nominated?
Is this the same James Graham who;
Talks a good game.
Comes in and hits people 4th man in.
Is scared of Ryan Bailey
Chucks the ball away before contact.
Spits his dummy on a weekly basis
There's hope for us all really isn't there!

| Hmmm, given it is the players vote this year I did think Senior would not make the top three but thought Peacock would... so that is the surprise for me!
Given that they can not vote for anyone from their own club I suspect that their was very little way of votes between Saints and Leeds players, so also surprised to see Graham in the list!
It has to be Mozza for me because he is well liked and I think that is part of the new player vote system we will have to live with I am afraid!
Just thinking that maybe the best way to do this is to have a players player of the year award (which is now the man of steel), and a 'press' player of the year award and then combine the two voting systems (some how) to select the Man of Steel! Would that be a better system with less bias?

| surely it would be best just to put the saints players names into a hat, and pick one at random?
bar that, why not just get the coaches to vote. seem as they are the ones who studies the opposition players. could even go down the dally M route of picking the best player every week, then totalling up at the end of the season

| As I,ve said last week Peacock is in decline, and the short list more or less confirms it.
Graham has years ahead of him and will still be playing at a high standard, he might convert his sulkiness to a more fistiful approach so the Leeds forwards need to watch out in the near future.

I'd take his quality over Graham's quantity any time.
Appalling that Senior isn't there and don't think Hodgson deserves it to be honest.
Remember the game at the Galpharm when we played them? Big game, big test for them, they could've overtaken us - he had a stinker and we walloped them.
He's had a good year and been a good player but not man of steel material for mine.'"
Agree at all here.
Mozzer all the way.
As for Hodgson I've highlighted the number of turkeys he's produced in big games. He's saved 'dancing through the tulips' against Celtic/Bulls et al

Graham is a workhorse but don't be silly. We have 12 year old forwards in our foundation Academy that he couldn't intimidate.
Your comments on Peacock are laughable.

Just checked JP's stats from previous years and compared it to his 2009 stats. He really REALLY isn't in decline.

Peacock is a terrific player, one of my faves from the last 10 years or so, mainly due to his approach in an England shirt and his obvious hatred for Aussies.
Graham deserves to be in the running for MoS, I know you guys don't like him but he's been incredible this year, better than last year in the circumstances as foar as I'm concerned.

However.......and this is probably not a criticism of Graham............too much is made of his metres made. That he does all the work of the Saints pack does not make him effective or indeed the Saints forwards effective. That stats are nice and showy but to put them into perspective he's broken a record recently held by Jamie Flowers.
Just because he runs the ball a lot, lot more than any other player doesn't make him the best in his position.
I do wish we could instill his work rate into a couple of our forwards but it might dilute their effectiveness in other areas. I also think graham would be a much, much better player with a lesser workload and as his workload seems to be the main reason he's being championed that is a bit of a double edged sword.
I lost a tonne of respect for him the other week and think of him wit ha little bit of derision since but would I like to see him in Blue and Amber? Yes.

| How can Peacock and Morley be in the dream team and then Graham be up for MOS? What do Leeds have to do to get a MOS winner.
Hodgson will win it IMO.

| I think G1 has it spot on.
Graham is a terrific player and although I think he's a 2wat you can't fault his ability on the field.
However he'll be burnt out like fielden by his late 20's.
As g1 rightly pointed out he could be even better if he was used more sparingly.
