Rampant ego aside, Hanley would certainly make for interesting times at Leeds. He's probably the only British coach who would command respect from all the players before he started. Whether he's actually much cop as a coach is another matter entirely.

In any event it would be great to have him in SL in a high profile capacity, whether at Leeds or anywhere else.

I know I will regret asking this, but what has Ellery Hanley done is recent years to gain so much respect and wanting him as Tony Smiths replacement?

I could live with Hanley as coach he did a good job with England and St Helens, but i could see problems because he likes to run the club from top to bottom, which could be interesting.

People talk about his time at Cass, but from what i understand he told the players a few home truths and they would not listern so he walked because he has high standards.

I don’t know about Holroyd but Hanley did want Pachniuk, he was NL player of the year at the time and I think it was only as back up to Cunningham, not as a replacement.

It will be Paul Cullen I am afraid.

i wouldnt mind Hanley, he did well with saints - was sacked for circumstances i still dont know of but they were top when he was sacked (i think)

BTW Did anybody see the televised Challenge Cup Draw on Tuesdays Look North ? What happened to the camera work ? every time Ellery picked out the rugby shaped ball and held it up to the camera for a close up nothing happened accept for a embarrassing pause happened about 4 times til he gave up

Depends on the player. I know for a fact that when Hanley was last at Leeds he was inspirational to many of the the younger players.

If Ellery got the job the post match swimming could be replaced with some interesting after match muscle relaxation

As for Hanley living in Leeds, I know he spent at least 18 months living just the other side of the Aire Valley from Headingley.

Would that be when he shared a room with Henderson Gill by any chance?

He could keep the players sweet with DVD Recorders and other electrical items.
