As for comparing it's rellevant & easy to do when the excuses are flying around & some seem happy to accept the sh#* sarnie being fed.

Were they at the very least competitive in most of their games?=Yes

See I find this worse than any comment McDermott made. Saints and Wigan did similar and I'd rather see a team picked and played for the match, not 1 half each. Saints for example had 12 subs, that's just taking the mick and they'd be better of just organising two separate games imo.

Entirely at the coach's discretion, as indeed is attendance on the part of fans. I can see why a 40 min session for most of the first 17 would appeal at this stage of the campaign.

What do folk expect from friendly, warm-up games except exactly that?
The opportunity to give all your fit players some time on the pitch.

He did mentioned beforehand that the kids would play the 2nd half so fans did know beforehand......but considering it was Michael McIlorum's testimonial game i find it a bit poor that they wouldn't host a game and have their best team out to get as good an attendance as possible for the guy.

why is it taking the mick? most fans knew before the game this would be the case! we played cas and kr with the majority of u19s/fringe squad players and radford picked the ones the he felt could cut it against the wolfpack!

I care about what Leeds do the comparisons are rellevant wrt performances & the constant reminders about injuries & predominantly that was the consistent "excuse" once the season was well underway.
As for "setting the tone" that isn't selection based it's performance intent shape etc & i didn't use it the Coach did

As for comparisons, if Leeds had lost 50-10 to Leigh then this forum would be in meltdown. Lead by the usual cheerleaders with you in full support.

1st & foremost performance is & always will be the most important factor for me the rest follows on.

The reason I was dissapointed Boxing Day was that every player that played is part of our first team squad, that means they are likely to get called upon at some point this season, and very few came away having impressed when given the opportunity.

Obviously felt a lot better after the KR game, but given the increased injuries every team seems to suffer, I'd have liked to see more from the squad players both, in terms of quality and ability to play to structure.

Call a turd a turd by all means, but let's at least wait until there's some meaningful games or something to actually bloody moan about. Complaining about a team, missing 13 players, losing a completely meaningless pre-pre-season friendly game on Boxing Day isn't something to moan about. And no I didn't go, I didn't fancy paying £20 to watch a training session, i've got much better things to do and to spend my money on at Xmas.

I'll take a stab and guess you're suggesting me as I'm the other main positive poster on this forum. I don't really get involved in Lioner81's debates unless I have a view I want to make. I'm not part of any clique nor do know anyone who posts on here personally unlike others (I could've stood right next to you at a game for all I know)

Since the new moderators have taken over on here I've tried to not get involved in long winded running battles and barring one slip I think I've been much more reserved than previous even though some other posters aim digs intended for me, So in keeping with peoples wishes to avoid those long running thread ruining battles then if I'm not really involved in the particular argument it's much better for all to not try drag me into it with insults or mocking when I'm not really involved in the first place,

So, after our improved showing against HKR and baring in mind Wigan's 50-10 thrashing by the new boys, does anyone think they might have (just slightly) over reacted to our defeat in the meaningless pre-pre season friendly on Boxing Day where we had 13 players missing?
