Ranked higher in terms of try scoring but that's where it ended for me. On that list he also ranked higher than Lewis Jones (amongst others) so make of that what you will.
Cummins' main/sole contribution throughout his career was finishing off the good work of others and it's a job he did quite well. He once or twice created opportunities for himself but they, from memory, came early in his career and were few and far between. He was in my estimation a very limited player otherwise.
The description 'stealing a living' was applied to the period after 2001 when Leeds released Raynor and extended Cummins' contract after Wakefield had turned him down. By that stage he had stopped putting his body on the line, working out of dummy half, chasing kicks downfield and yet under Daryl Powell was a permanent fixture on one wing in a typically underachieving team. It was highly significant that the first thing Tony Smith did in charge of Leeds was 'not select' (some might say 'drop') the previously untouchable Francis Cummins.
Just my opinion.

Andy,
I must certainly be the only one who posts on here who remembers seeing Eric Harris kick goals at Headingley. Although there will be some members of the Veterans Club who will no doubt remember.

| At the time I didn't think Frannie warranted a place in our side (I'm thinking more of 2003/4 though), and preferred us to select the flawed, but highly dangerous Calderwood. However some of the things you've said about him tvoc are a little harsh IMO, he always gave 100% IMO, and until his pace went around 2002 he was a very very good finisher.

Did you agree with Raynor being released and Cummins being retained in 2001?
He may well have given his personal 100% but it was a largely ineffective effort post 2001. Wakefield didn't think he was worth taking on and I was disappointed that Leeds re-contracted him almost, as if, out of sympathy. Professional sport can be a harsh environment but occasionally I see Leeds shy away from making the tough but correct decisions with players.
Cummins was and continues to be a great club man though.

He also used to kick on the first tackle, mostly into touch in the times of contested scrums, so the front row were not to pleased to have to scrum down against such as jim mills on the strength of one of atky's brain explosions.

| Kevin Sinfield has kicked 37 from his last 38 attempts at goal for a 97% success rate. Had he not missed the kick from the second Ryan Hall try V the Bulls he would now be the world record holder.....probably. But that didn't happen so it's currently 12 and counting again.

| The Wakefield result was Leeds' 300th win since the start of the summer era.
Leeds - Summer Era - All Comps
Played 451, Won 300, Drawn 9, Lost 142, Pts For 13380, Pts Agst 9085 (Avg Scr 30-20) 68%
Kevin Sinfield is closing in on a 1,000 goals for Leeds. He currently stands on 965 + 19 DG's - Total 984
He will become only the second player in the club's history to pass the mark along with Lewis Jones whose total stands at 1,244.
Rob Burrow's second try was Leeds' 100th of the season.
As flagged up earlier in the thread (Page 12) Burrow now needs one try to become the first Leeds player of the SL Era to score 100 tries and more than 100 goals in the SL Regular Rounds.
Currently he has:
Played 152 + 61 (+ 1 NPS) Tries 99, Goals 102, Drop Goals 2, Points 602
That will complete his hat trick of firsts for Leeds (in the SL Era) of passing the 100 tries and 100 goals in All Comps, in all SL matches Inc Play Offs, in SL Regular Rounds.

All good stuff, but do you have a record of how many times the South Stand sung 'that song' about Andy Gregory - the song that featured a mere five different words?
bonus for 10 - how many times was it then sung to Shaun Edwards?

Having never actually attended a Leeds game such things have passed me by. I'm sure it was hilarious though.
__________
Good week this one.
The next Start will be Kevin Sinfield's 300th for the club.
He will become only the second player to reach the mark in the SL Era after Keith Senior got there away at Les Catalans recently.

It seemed to be tailor-made for Wigan players.
It went from Gregory, to Edwards, to Farrell.
