Think they'll keep Sinfield out of the firing line a bit longer after his exams and concussion. Keep Johnson there probably with myler.

Johnson got good minutes and showed some nice touches. He should continue in the 17 IMO. O'Connor is starting to run more from dummy half too, and is making steady progress

Not sure whether I’d play Johnson at 9 and then O’Connor to 13 and Smith to 6…. Or O’Connor 7 and Myler 6. Really don’t like Myler in the halves too many memories of the Furner / Agar years.

Might be time to bring Hooley in at FB.

A great effort in the circumstances. Every player gave it there best shot effort wise and no one can question the togetherness of the team. Not attempting a drop goal when we had 12 tackles in there 20 with 5 minutes of normal time to go beggared belief. I like Myler at fullback but he is terrible at organising the side from halfback.

Played there quite a bit at York didn’t he?

It’s the distribution he gives which I think adds most value.

Is Tet back next week we could really do with him?

I just don't think we had a player with the ability to pot kick a drop goal on the field at the point, and arguably from the moment Sezer went off. It's just not, and never has been, in Mylers repertoire. What a performance though, up against it before the opening whistle, it just kept getting harder. Really tough to take, but that lads left everything out there tonight. Cannot ask anymore under the circumstances.

Frustrating that we couldn't quite get over the line, but a huge effort. Sometimes (most times!) losses are hard to take, but if you'd described the circumstances to anyone with respect to injuries they'd assume we'd have lost by 40 points, not in extra time. Its the sort of performance which could galvanize our season. Sadly it looks like we'll be down some players for a while though - touch wood Newman's not out for the duration again.

I agree it was an outstanding effort and you have to really feel for the players, they gave it everything. I just found it frustrating that they didn't attempt a drop goal when they had the opportunity. If it misses fair enough, but at least have a pop. Whether it is Myler who takes it or not, just have a go when you are in such a good position. Even Dwyer managed one a couple of seasons back.

In fairness Dwyer was extremely lucky it was a ridiculous play.

Very lucky but if you don't even attempt it you have no chance.

That sums up why Myler has never been good as the main playmaker. Any halfback worth their salt should take control, get the ball to the middle and have a crack at a drop goal.

Agreed.
Even if Myler doesn't take the drop goal himself, at least guide the forwards into position to give someone else the best opportunity.

Seen some very disjointed highlights and can’t understand why sangarre try not given.

Hope Newman and Gannon are not too bad.

But the teams been criticised all season for not showing effort in for the whole game or not showing effort at all. This game was full of effort and the reason it’s been praised

They both won't play again this year unfortunately. How Harry gets through this one I don't know but knowing his character he will.

I any game there are always areas where improvements could have been made - that's sport. Given the circumstances - depleted side with 3 further injuries during the game - one to the only playmaker on the side that is a tough ask to have an organised attack. The team gave it their best shot and narrowly lost.

I think that really could be a galvaniser.
If we have even one ‘proper’ halfback on the pitch we knick that. Given the patched together nature of the side by the end I think I’d reserve critics of them not managing to get a drop goal over.

The only real negative for me was the obvious injuries. Also not one to blame the referee but I thought the Sangare try was inconclusive and should have gone with the refs call. Also didn’t see a punch thrown either but they only showed one replay.

Holroyd best prop on the field. Hard to bag anyone but we probably saw the best and worst of a couple of players. Myler does so much well but just doesn’t have that cutting edge organization. Walters was good but still very raw, a couple of overexcited offloads and a poor read on the sironen try. Sangare an awesome break and then a chase back but then a bad error.

Overall more positive and hopefully last two weeks show we’ve put the poor starts to bed.

Im struggling to remember when weve been down to one sub for 55 well, 65 minutes though. No luck at all, proud of the performance though.
