All three of Tom Bush's 1st grade games have been on the left wing defending outside of Senior and Burrow with Hall swapping wings.

I'd imagine that would be coach McClennan's counter argument.

Selecting Bush to play outside of Senior and Burrow and switching Hall to the right has been coach McClennan's consistent policy when using the inexperienced winger.

As I rarely see an Academy match, I'll leave that to others. However, I was pleasantly surprised, despite his fairly slight frame, with his showing in the first couple of games. Nice side step off both feet and willingness to get involved. Maybe that was the naivety of youth, and he's finding the reality of playing in a team that has both injury and performance issues a lot harder.

The sooner last years combo of Senior and Hall get their act together, coupled with Lee Smith on t'other wing the better. Smith looks a tad lardy, and maybe could be doing with shedding a few pounds, as to me he looks off the pace as well.

Basic Rugby League. As a winger surely the cardinal sin is to ne tackled in to touch on the first like that. He would have had that drilled into him from a young age. I accept that in the heat of the moment it can be more difficult that in a school match for instance, but nonetheless at this level it should not happen.

The fact is he has been thrown in due to injuries. It is blatently obvious that without injuries he would not be in contention at all. I have watched him in the academy for the last couple of seasons mainly at full back and he is an Ok player, although not a team player very selfish, but not Super League standard and doubt he will be but the experience will bring him confidence.
In all honesty not anywhere near Jodie Broughton who was let go, so not really expecting to see too much more of Bush once scotty or smith on the wing and or webb back at FB

I don't think we've seen enough of bush in the first team to accuratly judge him.

His getting put into touch was down to inexperience in the first team. In an academy game he probably stays in the field of play in the same circumstances. There was a specific point about 3/4 of the way through his run where he should have cut inside but he carried on running forward.

Someone ought to have a word with the hugely experienced in NRL and SL Luke Dorn in that case, who did exactly the same thing in the Quins game on Saturday.

Bad decisions get made by players all the time, not just through inexperience.

If Bush learns from it, great. If he doesn't that's the time to complain.

It also happens to our so called superman Brent Webb who has been known to flirt with the touch-line when taking the ball up after kick receptions or early in the tackle count when we're defending our own line.
