| Manning and Brady are HOF quarterbacks, not 'game managers'. Which is code for someone with not that good of an arm but generally makes smart decisions. Chad Pennington was that type of a player.
The Eagles problems run deeper than Vick. There is the lack of balance in the play calling when McCoy is an elite runner, Castillo seeming to be out of his depth at DC, the terrible tackling of the linebackers and defensive backs...........
I think big fat Andy's time is about up.

| Just got back from a whislestop coast to coast trip to the States which included the Thursday niht game at San Diego, College game (FIU vs FAU), Dolphins Redskins and Florida Panthers vs Philly Flyers (NHL).
The Raiders are the real deal. A talented young offence full of play-makers and Palmer getting back up to speed. The Chargers couldn't get over the injuries to their O line.
College football is where it's at. Lot's of drunken frat girls. HoweverI can see why it takes QBs and WRs so long to adjust to the NFL. Look out for T Y Hilton in next year's draft. Not many players from the sunbelt division get drafted but th is explosive and will likely make the late rounds.
The Redskins have been decimated by injuries. Take the 2 starting WRs, TE, LG, RT, FS and RB out of any team and they will struggle. Shannahan's over reaction in benching Grossman and playing the completely ineffectual Beck cost us. Glad he reversed the decision Sunday but he shouldn't have made it. Rexy looked good, moved the chains and threw the ball deep. neither INT were on him. We will beat the Cowgirls Sunday. Watch this space.

Sounds like a my type of trip.
Still not convinced with the raiders, maybe if they had had Carson bedded in from the start, this year they are dark horses at best IMO
What do you think will happen to Jason Campbell?
What position does this Hilton play?
the Skins Fins game was forgettable but I was glad for a win, Beck is useless and shouldnt even be 2nd string, Wash misssed Moss big time on third down. I also agree with you re Grossman, the Davis INT was because the WR slipped. i think Rex is a poor mans Cutler, and as long as he can keep turnovers down, wich has always been his problem he is an above average QB

| I think Campbell is gone. He doesn't want to be a backup. That is why he left us. He feels he's a starter and he'll get a chance to start somewhere. AFAIK he's a free agent this off season. The Raiders have to go with Carson Palmer given the price they have paid for him.
T Y Hilton is a WR but also returns punts and kickoffs. I think he'll get a shot doing that. Maybe a late round pick because of the low division his college is in. He is very explosive.
I agree with you about Grossman. I think Shanahan knew that along along and wanted to fix the defence this year and draft a Qb from the 2012 class. That was clear why he opted to trade down and ignore gabbert (and others) and take Kerrigan (who has been a star). However we MUST take a QB in the next draft. Grossman isn't great but is a million miles better than Beck. I think we'd have been 9-7 and maybe 8-8 if he'd have kept faith with Grossman. I don't think either INT were Rex's fault Sunday. Like you say, Hankerson fell over for the first and Gaffney ran the wrong angle on his rout for the second, cutting too deep an angle behind the defender rather than a n angle in front of him which is where Rex threw the ball.

| I don't rate Shanahan as highly as some, I think he has won one playoff game his entire career without Elway. Don't rate him as a talent evaluator or his schemes although he had huge successes plugging in replacement level type running back's in Denver.
The father/son working relationship seems like a loser to me also.
But then again I have not seen as much Redskin football as their followers this year and there are so many teams who are in that NFL blob of mediocrity.

I think Shanny believes too much of his own hype regarding evaluation and plugging in players

Thats typical Rex all mouth and no very large waistbanded trousers. I do however blame sanchez and the offense than Rex's defense. Tebow was crap for 95% of the game, fine he got the job done when it counted again (its like he's got a switch) point being Sanchez should have been able to get his team out of the reach of the seemingly God Guided Tebow Time. That throw to dustin keller was just poor

I have doubts about that, I think there are very few teams that need a QB that wont draft one, the only place he could go and start would be the Jaguars, or if Miami or a simmilair team plays themselves out of the premier QB draft spots.

Kerrigan impressed me last week, very athletic for a big guy. The problem is with Rex being average and out of the promised land of top ten QBs with a middle of the pack pick. On the flipside you could get some not considered a year one starter and sit them behind a competent starter like Rex.

Rex Ryan is a gobshoite as he proved the other day by telling one of the patriots fans in the crowd to "shut the fook up", because he dared to say Bill Belichick is a better coach! All caught on video too

As much as I dislike belichick 90% of the reasons I dislike him come from the fact we cant beat the Patriots, who contend every year, why's that because Bill is a great coach who can do both the acctual coaching bring players on, drafting and bringing no name players to the forefront. he is a proven winning coach
Rex Ryan has shown nothing apart frpm a total lack of respect, the complete egomaniac arrogant person he is, and a huge wastline.
Oh and he's pretty much killing ladanian tomlinson by having him do double the work to make up for Captain Overrated himself Mark Sanchez.
He should shut up til he does something worth talking about. Even Tony Sporano's beat him 3 times

| typical TS he has 7 lean games now we are getting 7 fat games. it all depends on who the coach is but we do need to improve the qb position
No more wins - take a QB
go 6-10 then we need to see what we give up
the 3 wins have been against poor teams so lets not get carried away but we could have the record as the eagles

| This might sound crazy but Id love TS to stay, the way the team has stayed together is a credit to him, and the team and TS has shown that they can win win with decent QB play.
Agree, could cost alot to trade up, a future Franchise QB needs a supporting cast drafted in years to come.
We've waited this long another year instead of a reach an a bust is better. gey Mstt Kalol if RG3 isnt still there. But he might be.
I think our ceiling is the same record as last year.
As a sidenote. Teams finishing worse than us IMO
Indy
Carolina
Minesota
Denver(tebow cant last forever)
Thats it off the top of my head

| forgot about the rams.
Open for interpretation but heres some non draft QB options
Moore, if he shows enough for the rest of the year
Henne, highly unlikely, fanbase wont stand it.
Garrard
Orton
Young
there the 3 established starters
Outside that there are a few low risk high reward options.
Leinart, has a chance to prove himself now.
Quinn, kick the tyres
Flynn, one decent game
Mcnabb over the hill
hell Jamarcus russell is looking for a way back into the league and in less years in the league than leinart and the same has quinn he as more Td's and a simmilair number of INTs
Worth a workout?

| There does not seem to be as many solid, veteran back up QB's in the league as they used to be. I am referring to players such as Steve Beuerlein, Jim Miller, even Vinny Testaverde in the later years of his career. Players that would come in and be efficient and skilled enough to keep a good team in the game when the starter went down. Perhaps players are retiring earlier due to earning more money in this era. Meaning those grizzled veterans are no longer around in their mid-late 30's hoping to pick up another year's salary. It could also be that basic mechanics and quarterbacking skills are no longer at the same level as they used to be. This could be attributed to the trend for more athletic, mobile passers in the game who never get the basics down to a sufficient standard as they get by using their raw, physical tools rather than needing for everything to be text book correct.
The Texans worked out Brodie Croyle, Jeff Garcia, Trent Edwards and Kellen Clemens today. They all could be on the Bears radar too after Cutler broke his thumb yesterday. When the unproven and untested Caleb Hanie is the next man up for the Bears and these band of misfits are still getting looks from NFL teams it proves how few quality experienced backups there are left in the game.

| I think your right, off the top of my head I can only think of the likes of Chris Redman,Shaun Hill, Billy Volek Mark Brunell and the two from the steelers, Leftwich and Batch.
I also assume it is down to the reasons you put forward, what will happen to the likes of Tebow, Newton, and too an extent Vick when there legs have done a few more miles and they cant rely on athleticism to make up for fundamental flaws.
They'll go the way of Donovan McNabb

| It seems the norm these days for teams with Clear starters to have their guy then a developmental QB, very few have stable backups
As for the QB's getting worked out 2 are crap, one is a decent backup and the other is over the hill, I thought Garcia was playing UFL or CFL, not trying to find an NFL team. I also saw Daunte Culpepper is attemting a comeback?

The short answer in my Opinion is no, we were after orton when we thought he would make us a playoff team. However we have no chance of the playoffs apart from going unbeaten for the rest of the season and he showed that he cant win in Denver, a team that had a simmilair supporting cast to Miami.
You factor in how long it would take him to learn the offense that M Moore is excelling in right now and the fact that he'll demand starters money its common sense not to pick him up.
I also oppose it as it would be extremely unfair to Moore who has played better and with Moore confidence and cahoones than Henne ever did. It would be the attempted Harbaugh signing all over again.
