The new South Stand was Not part of the bid submitted by LCC ,so I wonder what exactly the bid consisted of?I would have thought the main critera was a first class stadium.

I'm on the facebook page Leeds backs the 2013 rlwcbid and they said the new southstand was NOT part of the bid.So I asked if it was possible to see what promises were made as part of the submission, and the reply was its all very confidential right now,but everything will be revealed as the RLWC gets nearer,but they the city council are not putting anything into the south stand as part of the bid so who cares.

So no gold star for GH then - back to trying to scrimp together the pennies to pay for the new South Stand ourselves.

Could it be expanded to something like "Buy-a-thousand-bricks-and-a-big-steel-girder-and-a-few-tons-of-concrete-and-a-few-builders" for next year? How far can we push the paying punters I wonder?

Perhaps the club could also introduce a Chav 4 Life funding scheme with an assurance that they can maintain their occupancy there ad infinitum?

Was just looking at few photos of the new 'temporary' stands that Wakefield Wildcats are putting in place, IMO we would be able to put them on our away stand, if it was leveled out.

I'm no expert but the Western Terrace is much bigger than that stand, so the covering would have to come much further out from the back. Presumably, without putting in pillars at the front, that would mean it would have to be tilted on more of an angle and so make it higher. Plus the scoreboard would add height as well.

I wouldn't have though they would be the space with the screen, score board and the alley way directly behind.

It looks like it from the pics Frosties has posted, I havent been to Belle Vue for a few years now but from what I remember that looks like the thin stand down the right hand side from an away fans point of view. IIRC it had a couple of portakabins on it last time I was there.

It's a lot smaller in terms of depth and height than our Western Terrace.

The Northern Terrace, where most away fans congregate is next on the agenda, and I suppose that is similar to the 'away' end at Headingley. It’s a cheapish solution, however, with the big screen perhaps not practical for Leeds.

Do the improvements at Belle Vue - no matter how temporary in nature - indicate a realisation by the club that Newmarket may be further away from coming to fruition than they first thought?

Permission has only been granted for two years, which take the club through this and the 2013 season, when Newmarket should be ready, notwithstanding approval this May. Whilst the club are waiting for the development of the new stadium, this is something they could do to make best of what they have to increase the match day experience of the home and away punters.
