It was a sunny Sunday afternoon rather than night as such and Leeds' try scorers at Halifax were Vince Fawcett and Carl Gibson.



A bit busy at the moment but his Leeds overall totals were:

Good old Gibbo, a very under rated player imo.

My personal favourite was when Offiah was playing for Widnes and Gibbo stood on his leg as he slid over for try against us. Offiah then proceeded to have a hissy fit and chucked the ball at him. Very amusing.

The interception try against Cas in the local tin pot final at ER was another quality moment.

I've a recollection of Andy Greg scoring a brace in a game at Headingley (for Leeds) but couldn't tell you who it was against.

A ll i remember of Gregory in a Leeds shirt is thinking that we'd signed a space hopper!

This was one of my darkest days as a Leeds fan. A black and red kit. Absolute disgrace.

Tricky one that, he scored so many tries for Leeds.

Barrow reminds me of the 90-0 cup game against Barrow in about 1990.

My only recollections of that game was the Barrow physio/trainer/water carrier, who looked like Billy Bunter and wore a bobble hat, and the fact they were sponsered by Cumbria Co-op.

As to who played or scored...not a clue.

The 90-0 I do remember a bit more. It was on the same day that Nelson Madela was released. David Young made his debut, and managed to look OK, coming on as a sub when we were already miles in front. It was about his only decent Leeds performance, apart from one against Salford (wihhc I think is why they signed him after we cut our losses).

I remember Mandela being released and that I was watching on the portable tele in the kitchen. He walked out of prison later than scheduled and I can remember I really wanted to see it but at the same time was in a rush to get off somewhere. Now I know where.

The Fanzine had as its front cover that famous picture of a frail Mandela smiling on his way from Robben Island with a speech bubble coming from his mouth saying "Have the Loiners won owt yet?". Quality gag.

A touch over-reactive non? It's a bloody colour on a rugby jersey.

I've got vague recollections of even Rob Ackerman looking good in those Leigh and Barrow games, but it could just be my old memory playing tricks again...

IIRC, the 90-0 team featured Hugh Waddell, who had yet to score a try for Leeds, following his summer transfer. He didn't score in that game either, despite Leeds getting (again IIRC) 17 tries. I think Waddell broke his duck away at Leigh, scoring a double.
