Harsh on Delaney, but I don't think he's that important that he walks back into the side when he's fit.

Plenty of options for those back row spots, particularly if we play a prop at loose. Achurch IMO offers more going forward, and is less likely to look like his legs have gone after ten minutes.

Two very hard games after the CCF IMO. Saints haven't played well but they will have a week off, Wilkin back (I think) and we might have hangovers/ injuries from the final .

Cats away is always a harder fixture too.

If Delaney is fit after the few weeks off I'd have to pick him. Achurch hasn't played much rugby for the latter half of the season .I'd rather keep him for the game after .

Don't think you can pick Achurch on fitness/injury reliability reasons.

Injuries are a part of sport. They can happen to any player at any time, most of them occur as a result of a freak set of circumstances - Achurch getting knocked unconscious as a result of slipping and cracking his head on the attacking player's hip being a perfect example.

If you start not picking players because you're worried they might get injured, then you may as well cancel their contracts and let them go.

It's not like Delaney has an unblemished record on that front either, is it?

Nope. I've not picked Delaney because I think Achurch did enough tonight to be able to hold onto the jersey, and because Delaney isn't a player who gives you so much that they are an automatic first choice like say a Sinfield or a Hardaker would be.

I pointed out Delaney's injury record in response to your comments about Achurch being fragile.

You actually pointed out Delaney legs struggling to last more than 10 mins first before I said anything.

Delaney will play for sure , he was magnificent in the semi final . Achurch i'm afraid is just a squad player a decent one but no more than that .

We still have to win 2 and have some difficult games to come , can't see Wigan losing another as they have easier run in and probably only difficult game is Saints away , think we may have to beat Saints and Cas then hopefully can rest players in the other 2

Big effort from Singo and Ward (41 tackles each) and a useful 33 tackles from Keinhorst who should all play next week along with a deserving Delaney.

With nothing to play for except pride Hull are to be admired for making such a game of it with some good attacking skills. Houghton was a poor distributor at acting half though!

Yes but that was based on poor understanding of McDermott's team selection. Even if his stats last night were average he'd be playing at Wembley because their's no JJB playing as a middle man. We aren't going to have a bench of three 2nd rowers in Delaney, Achurch and Keinhorst.

Singleton definitely got some good performances in him, question of whether he can do it repeatadly week after week. Seems quite at home at Hull's ground though, like when he started the 43 point 2nd half battering we gave them at the start of the year.

I think he's got it in him but it'll be a gradual process. Even so, the games awash with props no more consistent, some of whom are pretty highly regarded. For me he holds his own amongst all but the top 10%, even now.

Maybe he saw it as a chance to earn his Wembley spot. I still say that for his age he is doing very well.
