England got on the front foot from word go second half and the Australians demonstrated how difficult it is to make yards out of your 22 and get a good kick in (just like England found it in the first half).
The Aussies got the bounce of every ball in the first half - yes they have the personell to take advantage, but that did flatter their lead.

Thurston's sin-binning by Ganson came out of the wide blue yonder. How was that deserving of a binning, it wasn't even deserving of a penalty given the way the game had been refereed to that point.

Does Ganson have an issue with Thurston?

I think Thurston was making the age old mistake of winding Ganson up by continually gobbing off - either to him in back play. Hardly surprising that Steve got the card out really was it? An accumulation of several incidents and then Thurston decides to slow down play near the Aussie line.

Yellow for an accumulation of Thurston whinging away in the background perhaps but not for that incident. When Ganson blew the whistle I expected it to be Smith penalised rather than Thurston.

I expect the referee to be bigger than settling his petty sqwabbles in that manner.

He is what he is. You don't mouth off to him, everyone knows what happens. If it had been an England player we would be criticising the England player for being so stupid.

He didn't yellow card him for mouthing off though. He yellow carded him for basically nothing.

Did the Thurston tackle on Smith merit a sin-binning? Was there a warning that the next infringement (no matter how petty) would be dealt with? Does a word in the first half carry over to the seventy first minute?

If not what was Ganson up to. Thurston had gotten under his skin and he used a nothing tackle to prove the point.

If Ganson gets the final we'll know about it (with justification) from the Aussies.

i'm not argueing about ganson,it was his chance to be star attraction again..

ganson let some far worse tackles go so i can't imagine it was for the tackle.

He deliberately slowed down a PTB from a poor tackle position when England were attacking near the Aussie line. That AND the cumulative back chat resulted in the yellow.

Yes. I heard it on the recording when I got home from the match. Ganson was clear in his warning to Thurston, who was a pain in the backside and fully deserved his sin binning.
