Up to the Wigan game is only 8 games not 10.

Seems a strange that he had ten games and GH was always going to give him ten games In fact they signed a new contract codifying that 10 game judgement, then put out this statement from GH saying we will be in a much better position to judge after 8 games.

I suppose this is being done to give enough time to set up a new coach to come in immediately after sacking, something that should have been in place for a while now. Otherwise you're left with JJB and Burrow coaching the team while you scour the world for someone available - much harder changing coaches in mid-season, which is another reason something should have been done following such an unprecedentedly bad year.

But it is a clear indication that GH is, finally, cracking.

Interesting times, it will show how much the players rate BM, will they step up a gear to save him?

This is what needs to happen. Write this season off get a new coach in now to use the rest of this year to identify players he wants and get them tied up now instead of being left with the scraps when all the best players are contracted for 2018 and beyond. also tough decisions HAVE to be made now. there are several of the current squad who need to be told that they are either not good enough for us or they have reached the end of a glittering career. We can't continue to let this drift or 2018 will be as much of a write off as this.

Still think Cunningham will go first. Surprised if smith gets fired, wire have a stronger squad than us and saints. Theoretically in several weeks time, us and saints will be looking for a new coach. Still think the major problem is the quality and age of our squad. Player recruitment over the last few seasons has been abysmal.

They didn't just give him 10 games on the new contract. They gave him a win percentage to achieve of at least 40%.

I am aware to the end of the Wigan game is 8 games, but I stated above what was following that, lossable games also. Therefore I would expect him to be sacked based on 10 games.

Some of the players should/would also be playing for their own futures. So yes, they should step up a gear if only to save themselves.

Walters, Ormondroyd, Mullally will never be good enough at top level so should be moved on to a Championship club which is their maximum level imo.

More or less my feelings, I would however give both mullally and ormondroyd this season to prove they are good enough. I hope McGuire has sufficient intelligence to retire at this season end. He has been magnificent for us ,but unfortunately at the moment he is showing his age.

There wasn't one player on the pitch the other night that I'd turn a hair at losing.
If I had to pick ones to retain it'd be those that show the odd sign of wanting to improve.
I see few signs of that from the elder statesmen - understandable in a way as their best days are behind them however hard they try. The ones that really worry me are the high-earners that should be the bedrock of the team. I see few signs of wanting to improve amongst that group. Maybe they think they're good enough, I don't know. And don't give me any coaching b0ll0cks either - while poor coaching might be relevant to young players, it certainly shouldn't apply to players with 100+ games under their belts, at least not on an individual skills level.

It's going to take years, money and shrewd youth development to sort out the place we are in now. I don't think our next coach will see us win things, it will be the guy after him that will do it, if we get things right starting now.

Does anyone seriously expect GH to remove McDermott before the end of the season? I don't. The 40% win ratio reminds me of Gordon Brown's 5 economic tests before joining the Euro. Their sole purpose was to make sure we never entered the Euro.

The McDermott Legacy - exactly as some predicted even when Leeds were still in the winner's circle. The success was down to a core group of players who were rapidly ageing with doubts surrounding their replacements. Nothing looked capable from within and quality external signings were a thing of the past unless coming along in the gifthorse variety.





The 40% if true is a ridiculously low bench mark for a club the stature of Leeds.

This is just delaying the inevitable imo & is the usyal pr BS Hetherington rolls out after a diabolical performance/result.
Even if we win our next 4 Mc.D needs to go this next batch of jnrs need a clean slate Coaching wise & better quality 1st teamers around them.
Wrt who should go from the squad we've always had reasonable fringe players when the starting 17 or so have been quality so id start there first wrt recruitment.
Fwiw id look to move on Mcguire Delaney Galloway Jjb Burrow(player coach) & Walters. To start with.

Arguably it'd be easier and quicker to list those worth hanging on to.

If only we had, y'know a reserve league that we could put first teamers and up & comers into to hopefully sharpen up when not picked for 1st team and/or dual reg.

I'll be honest, I was probably in the camp that thought the people managing the club knew what they were doing and had confidence in what would happen when the age of our stars became a serious problem. However, I did say several seasons ago that I thought McD was not the man to manage the transition. However, it seems I should also have included GH in that.
It's hard to predict quality of youth development, but it's been very disappointing at Leeds, particularly in key positions like 9 and in the forwards as a whole. We've also recruited poorly, I'd rather have a good Championship forward than a guy who can't get a game for Huddersfield, or a dual reg player just turning out for fitness.
I thought we had a class set of threequarters (although that was including Hardaker) and that we could surely manage to build a decent pack and recruit one genuine quality half. But no. And now the threequarters look like garbage because the pack are rubbish and there's nobody to make the links around the field to make use of them.
So here we are. Hoping the rest of the league descends to our level so our coach can achieve his massive 40% win target after 7 Championships in 11 years.
