Heard it may have been 1985/86 but I think they were seven (actually eight and nine games) without a win - not quite the same thing.

Exactly Tad. Surprised people have not cottoned on to Hetheringtons previous on this yet. No way NcDermott will be in the same role next year.

Problem is if he stays he will still be first team coach - which is the least destructive role he can have in the club.

If you made him Director of rugby and the first team coach had to report into him it would restrict the quality of coach you could get. Him in charge of youth development, let's not go there

I agree with that, which is why I would cut ties. Hetherington has a strange attachment to people though. But he is not an idiot, and he knows the first team coach has to change.

One thing McDermott is very good at, and enjoys, is local community work, and talks with amateur coaches. Perhaps through Leeds foundation, there is another role.

Perhaps because if McDermott goes where is going to go - no top club is going to give him a job so he is basically in the wilderness. I just can't see GH letting that happen

I don't buy that he will be in the wilderness Sal.Yes if he goes now he leaves on a very bad note and it will have dented his reputation, but he has won every trophy available to him in a 5 year period before this year, he has a very good CV overall, i'm pretty certain he will get a gig at another SL club before being cast into the wilderness.

You maybe correct - but if he has a reputation of being difficult and not a great man manager and his success is perceived as being in the right time and place he might find it tough. To be honest his record at London was pretty appalling.
