| What we need right now is someone who's going to get us out of a relegation battle.
JJB might get a reaction and get some points on the board to do that.
But he's obviously not the long term answer - surely GH sees that.
We need to take our time to appoint someone to get the club back in the top 4 and challenging for trophies.
That's not JJB.
I'm convinced he wants Carr.
I think he's seen something in him that he really likes.

| As much as I liked JJB as a player, I find his rambling tiresome and would probably have a negative effect on motivation.
I am concerned as I see no traits that will make him a good coach, and our record defensively under him this season has been poor. I feel we could get even worse (if that's even possible) under his stewardship and thus, require the new coach bringing in ASAP. Likewise, we don't want to rush an appointment and recruit another poor choice. We are not in a great position as it currently stands.

We’ve no other choice at the moment, let’s see how he goes, hopefully he’ll surprise a few.
Maybe his motivational ‘ramblings’ might work in the interim, clearly Agars motivational talks weren’t helping.

Yes he does and i know a few ex players have come out and said exactly the same and I'm sure Kev would say the same too. I'm not for one minute suggesting he's the long term answer but I'm getting behind him for now, he deserves that at least.

On the back of being in squad with a number of exceptional once-in-a-generation players: Sinfield, McGuire, Senior, Burrow, Ali etc.
Perhaps a 22 year old might look at JJB and think - you were fortunate to have the success you had. It isn't Danny McGuire or Kevin Sinfield stood up talking.

If that 22 year old did think that then they’ve got a terrible attitude.
JJB himself would be the first to say he was fortunate to play alongside those players, but it doesn’t automatically make his part in that side redundant or just luck does it.
The way some of our fans are disparaging to some of our players and ex players is strange.

| I wish him well, but he was part of some dreadful teams post 2017, and there wasn't much evidence that his leadership had any impact as a player.

I found his presser overlong and full of waffle. But he can waffle till the cows come home if we get a few wins on the board. Don't think for a minute that he is a credible candidate for the job and I'd be stunned if GH did. As a player he played a part in a magnificent era for the club. Whether he was a great player, or not, is neither here nor there.

So he had a super successful career, then for his last two season’s in part of poor teams you expect him to carry or motivate that poor team to sucess?
Either way that is a totally different situation thatn what he finds himself in now.
He might be terrible as interim coach but it seems some want to write him off before hes had a go.
Everyone wanted Agar gone, but it was obvious that it would be JJB or Long who took over in the interim, not sure what people were expecting TBH.
Let’s see what happens

This pretty much sums it up for me, theres a debate about how motivational people find JJB, but thats just each to there own, for me his waffle is way too much, but its not me that needs motivating, hopfully it works for the players and we get a few performances out of them.
As chris says, it was always going to be JJB as interim so hopfully he has a positive impact until our new, long term coach is hired

What is needed here isn't harder work on the training field its smarter work on the field. JJB ethic is all about hard work and commitment not quality and skill level. The former will not deliver the latter. Most 22 year olds with a modicum of intellect can see that. Leeds are losing games because they play dumb rugby - JJB has been an integral part of the preparation of the players who have delivered that dumb rugby.

So what’s your solution, sack JJB aswell?
We needed an interim coach who’s your suggestion. You’re talking as if JJB is the clubs answer when it’s clearly not, they are looking for s new head coach and you can’t magic one out of thin air.
Why not wait until he’s been in charge for a bit rather than a.writing him off and B. Guessing what young players think of him.

| We shouldn't sack JJB lol.
I think a lot of fans ( myself included) are worried the same mistakes will happen again and that we will be here again next season with the same coaching / player/ squad issues and deficiencies.
So seeing JJB promoted and the rumoured list of replacements being OK to meh is frustrating many.
I'd love to JJB develop into an excellent coach, but that takes time and would be helped by being understudy to a good or great coach.
It won't be helped if he's in charge of Leeds before he's ready

JJB is the interim coach, people are talking about it as if he’s the new long term head coach.
Who would you have put in charge in the interim?
And who would you want as Head Coach that isn’t on this rumoured list?
Im as worried as any one by the way but will give JJB s chance before writing him off

There is no one else to fill the interim position. It was always going to be him. I just hope we get someone in to take over, if that means JJB is coach this season, all we need to do is not get relegated.
It's after this season that worries.
Ward,McGuire,Vowles, etc. Very few mentioned could be considered top drawer. Some stink of straight up bottom draw/ cheap option.
We have been "rebuilding" for what feels like 7 years now and we are still waist deep in that process. It has to start moving forward and we need to move towards being a top 4 club.

We don’t even know if that ‘list’ is genuine so it’s pointless assuming were going for a cheap/bottom drawer option. We can’t do anything but wait and see who get’s the job, even then we don’t know it’ll be a flop or not.
The problem with these ‘rebuilds’ is nothing is guaranteed, it’s utterly frustrating i admit.

Agreed regarding the authenticity of the list(s) , just saying that real or not they don't really sound that good.
I'm hoping the players will buck up and start playing with some effort and heart.

| I just hope we don't stick in a rut again.
With hindsight Brian should have gone sooner.
With hindsight Agar should have done so too, especially so given he wasn't meant to be a long term solution. Just hope that interim coach JJB doesn't become a permanent fixture in the absence of a proper plan.

Well said.
Some people really do over react if you say anything negative.
JJB has been a great servant to Leeds, hes passionate and enthusiastic. He played a much bigger part in our success than given credit for. He was a key man. He deserves huge credit as a kid in having the brains and foresight to follow Sinfield and not go down a different path as some others did in the academy in those times did. I really respected Jamie for that and always have until recent times. Hes not my cup of tea as a person these days, i cant take him seriously, I genuinely cant listen to him. Thats my own personal issue but I hope he can get us playing in the short term.
I really think the last thing this current team needs is to be constantly reminded of how the golden generation did it. They are under enough pressure as it is.
