So you ignore the link he provides to the back line....and you will of course failed to have noticed where 5 or 6 of the England tries where scored ??? or are your blinkers preventing this.

| Not seen the game yet due to work but just settling down to watch it now.
But I feel some are a tad obsessed with speed. You don't have to be lightening quick to be a good HB and just because you have pace to burn doesn't make you a brilliant HB

Obsessed indeed to the exclusion of all the other facets of a player held in very high esteem by his peers.
His detractors consistently fail to understand that its the little things done consistently well that make good player,
Without these often unseen and under estimated contributions the flash speedy players wouldn't be in the positions required to score.

| Neither Widdop nor Chase are the kind of player to take a team around the park and bring others into the game.
Some people's hatred of all things Leeds seriously clouds their judgement when it comes to the club's players at representative level

| Got back from watching match and think that as others have said Sinfield really lacks pace and if Brough had been at 7 he'd have scored the opportunity that Sinfield had. Against Australia and New Zealand we may not have many chances hopefully it's not Sinfield that gets them 40 yards out against them....

Why resort to insults?
Sinfield has many qualities - which, if you read in the post that so clearly offended you, I stated NOBODY can deny - but he does have a lack of pace........or are you denying that? It is not an ideal scenario to be therefore playing in the halves IMO.
As to who might be better that is a different question: I do NOT think it should be Widdop.
With regards to his place kicking I was not referring to just this one match, but rather to a number of his most recent appearances at both club and country level.

| FFS pace isn't everything... Sinfield's all round skill set is fine, added to that his leadership qualities, and you've got a good enough half back.

I suspect "The messiah" Brough would go missing against the kiwis or the aussies.

Ferdy, funnily enough [imaybe to some[/i, I agree......but I'm sure WE could disagree without resorting to insults. I was simply making the point Sinfield is lacking in this particular area and it can be ruthlessly exposed at international level against the better teams (NZ and Oz).
At the same time I am not suggesting who actually might be better in Sinfield's position. There I am chickening out.
IMO Sinfield is better in the forwards: hooker/dummy half.

| Too old & too slow.I agree he has got a great tactical knowledge and knows when to push opponents into a corner but so does Shaun McRae and I wouldn't play him at 7 or 9 joking aside I think the experience and knowledge sinfield has could be better used in a coaching capacity .
If the strongest reason for having him on the field is his goal kicking ability were in the sh@t sorry average will not cut it at international level

| My honest option of sir Kev is that he is class.
I also support liverpool. Best way to describe him is, when I see Stevie gerrard on the team sheet I know we have a chance. Same goes for kev. Watched the 1999 cup winning DVD the other night(when he played a couple of games leading to the final) The fact that he is STILL playing at the highest level. Has been voted the worlds best player, regardless of what any Aussie says.
He's awesome and it's been a pleasure to watch a leeds player in my time that can be considered to be the greatest. Cheers.

| Chase runs from touch line to touch line, and Sinfield, does something, I assume, not sure what though.
He like the coach will do the decent thing after this tournament. We need halves that go forward, not sideways, and we need a real 9 playing at 9.
Throughout his career he has had his average spells, but he has also been very very good.
Would love to see Burrow and Widdop given a go in the halves vs Fiji at Chase and Sinfield are very poor.

| Great pro who has been excellent for Leeds but an international HB he is not. Put the Aussie Half backs in the England team and we would have won last week. When he stepped into The hookers role today our performance suffered.

| Sinfield was one of our better players last week, even acknowledged in the Aussie press.
He did nothing wrong today either yet he still gets hammered by the keyboard warriors who have their de - fault settings to 'blame Sinfield'.
Who else is the answer? Widdop? im sorry, but i really fail to buy into the hype. However, im sure he will get his chance to prove himself as England's saviour after this comp.Sinfield certainly has his shortcomings, but he is the best we have in the role that is being asked of him and he will be playing that role for the rest of the WC wether people like it or not.

| Wherever he should be played is not at hooker. Also I noticed that when someone made a half break Shinfield was always on their shoulder in support. He may not have finished off the breaks but he was more likely to than the others not able to read the game as well

| It's all about having a balanced team. I personally don't see Kev's best position being in the halves, but can see the merits of having him there.
Chase is very much a flair off the cuff type of half back. Who will drift out of games looking for his opportunity. Whilst Kev will be involved multiple times in every set of 6 and keep the team moving. It's obvious to see he's lacking in pace, but it isn't the be all and end all. When I was younger and starting out as a half back, I had pace to burn. But I'd be in awe of the older guys who could dictate a match without needing it.
Kev's leadership quality and organisational skills are up there as the best in the game. With a 3/4 line like we have, does he really need to be that fast?
Can't understand why he's attracting the criticism. Lockyer wasn't the fastest at the end of his career.

| Widdop has had 20 minutes at the end of each of the two games, against tired defences.
He's done absolutely diddly squat in attack (one chip kick to Briscoe yesterday apart) and looked a turnstile in defence.
No doubt if you give him 80 against a second-rate team like Fiji he'll go ok, but against the Aussies or Kiwis I would have zero confidence in asking him to run the game at take the side around the park like Sinfield does.

Exactly.its quite one thing looking decent whilst holding the hands of two of the best playmakers in world rugby and quite another being asked to do it yourself and against the best.
