A genuinely earned play-off place should be finishing 5th as a bare minimum.

Well, I'm kinda hoping that having to finish higher than 5th in a 5 team play-off system in order to give oneself a realistic chance of winning the SL title... along with being rewarded more appropriately for one's regular season efforts... might just encourage this current Leeds side to take the regular season rounds more seriously than they currently do. I'm bored with them tossing it off against whipping boy SL rabble most weeks.

I fully expect Leeds to beat Catalan next week.

I also expect Wigan will select Leeds as their opponents the week after.

Just wondering if Wigan will be underdone going into that Semi Final? Particularly when one considers they'll have had two weeks off... next week and this week (that game against Catalan was the equivalent of a week off).

Had a couple of cheeky £5 bets (I don't bet large, only for fun)... £5 on Leeds with the handicap (-12) at 6/5... that was practically a no-brainer value-for-money bet IMO. When I heard Tomkins was out, I couldn't resist another £5 on Leeds to win outright at 17/5. Also took a tenner off a Wigan mod with a wager so a good night all round

I am quite sure GH will be happy to forfeit some (discounted) season ticket doubters for his share in the two new pots of "Finals" gold produced by his Champion side and Champion coach!

I'm also quite sure I said the Wigan game would be "tricky" as it indeed turned out to be, but not impossible. I'm also pretty sure that I mapped out Leeds easy route to the Grand Final from that beautifully crafted position of 5th with absolute precision and accuracy before the completion of Round 27.


Nope, I doubt he'll do that. In fact I know he won't do that. What I do know is Leeds are not providing value for money to season ticket holders with all the dross they serve up during the regular season and anyone who purchases one are being short-changed and taken for a mug. It is in GH's best interests to recognise this because season ticket sales will eventually suffer as a consequence. The team only turning up for the final few weeks of the season will not alter that.

Any loss in season ticket sales would be more than offset by increased tv revenue and merchandise sales arising from winning stuff. Fans overestimate their own importance.

I don't disagree with any of that to be honest. Leeds play the system like a piano, educated by previous failures (03, 05 and 06).

This is the supreme irony. The attendances for the games which matter... they are abysmal compared to the season ticket based attendances for all the dross during the regular rounds. What was the attendance at the JJB last night? I've seen 8K quoted... surely that's not accurate?

The attendance was 12,344. Embarrassing turn-out all round but particularly from Wigan's supposed 18th man.

Getting their Grand Final tickets early must have had an effect.

I've always got mine very early. It's never been determined by whether Leeds make the GF or not. I'm not attending the GF this year however. Made that decision at the start of the season along with non-attendance for the meaningless regular season dross. The only exceptions have been the WCC, Bradford away (due to the financial circumstances) and Catalan at home (free ticket and an excuse to meet up with a few people). My patronage towards the game shall remain practically non-existent until credibility and meaningful games are restored.

May I ask when this may happen so I can avoid the area wouldn't want to be put of my dinner ! Well done sirs on a great result last night .
