Nah we actually looked at the next 4/5 matches and both agreed that if we won those then we would move up to about 4th or 5th in the league and that the odds we got wouldn't be available again, although we were 8/1 only a couple of weeks back which surprised us
Win or lose on Saturday the bet was worth the while if only for us both dreaming each week about what we'd do with the winnings
If the Rhino's win then my next 2 season tickets are for free near enough, and if we lose then it's like dropping 10 bottles of Budweiser down my shirt on Saturday and i've seen fans throwing more beer about in stadiums than that in the past

| Warrington are deserved favourites. Doesn't mean we have no chance, but you can't assume Warrington will freeze or play ultra-conservative through nerves. I'd hope to hell the players and coaches are assuming they'll be playing a Wembley-standard Warrington, and plan to have to somehow beat them at that level.

| That's because everybody knows we are the big game kings when it comes to finals, and Leeds have history freezing in the headlights when they take us on in a major final.
Also it gives Sinfield/Brian McDermott licence to give their speech about "everybody wrote us off, it was only them lads in the dressing room that had belief" if you win.

How does it feel Sally? Getting ready for your first Grand Final. Slightly nervous, a little giddy? Prone to spontaneous outbursts of laughter?
I know it's fourteen years ago and I was only in my early twenties, had to travel to the game from University in Glasgow I did. But what a journey. What a day.
Enjoy it.

It feels a bit surreal. For most of my Warrington supporting life I never expected that we would win a major trophy, in the Cullen era even after Simon Moran had taken over the club and put money in, got big names like Gleeson, Johns, Morley etc it always felt like we were chasing the unreachable dream a bit like Newcastle United in the 1990s under Keegan.
The 2009 Challenge Cup Final was the big one for me, I thought that could potentially be our only chance to win a trophy, I was really nervous before that, didn't particularly enjoy the occasion or appreciate the build up, once we went ahead early on I sat there counting down the clock waiting for the hooter. Once we had won that then for me it took the pressure off, a lifetime ambition had been realised to see Wire win a major trophy even if we never won again.
I was a lot more relaxed in the 2010 and 2012 Challenge Cup finals, I felt like there was nothing to lose as I'd already seen a trophy and if we lost to Leeds I could take it whereas I would have felt really shattered if we had lost to Hudds in 2009. I feel the same about this GF. Looking forwards to a new experience but I'm not afraid of losing, if we lose I can accept it and say fair play to Leeds, we are seeing a historic group of players that will be talked about for a long time.

Well either way it goes tomorrow, one of us pair shall be happy, one less so. But I like that post, because it kind of ties in with my feelings.
It's well known on here I don't care for the regular rounds because I don't think it represents value for money. But come the games that matter I am still a little kid again.

As has been said on another thread, the CC is one thing but the GF is totally different. It's so much more than the CC, more intense, more passionate. You can feel it.
I wont wish you luck but enjoy your day all the same.

| Think Leeds experience in winning this game 5 times already will be the major factor. Having Mcguire back is a massive boost too he was missed in the CC final!

What, like bradfords experience was a factor in 2004?
I don't know why people go on about experience because it means nothing it's (to use a boring cliche) 'who turns up on the day'.
And [iMega ultra super uber jedi master coach[/i tony smith has proven pretty good at extracting those performances from his teams.
Those odds look fine, the smart money goes on warrington. They looked fresher last week, have been a better team all year and dusted leeds down in a final less than 2 months ago.

| Bookies give their odds on facts, not gut feelings . On paper the Wire have a better side, they finished second and we finished fifth, they stuffed us in the CC final a few weeks ago. So on those facts only the Wire should be the ones to win. But this is sport anything can happen. 2008 World Cup final all the Aussie had to do was turn up, they were the best side ever. But long what happened, the New Zealanders won. It is sport, on paper the Wire will win, but you never never know. Come on leeds

Your thoughts on the weekly rounds are probably the same as many at Leeds including the management, and that’s what killing the game. I know you’ll all say its sore grapes on my part, but it isn’t, you’re just looking at the success of the club and think that the club is playing it smart, it’s not. By not playing with the same commitment every week you’re not just short changing your season ticket holders they are spoiling the league by making the weekly rounds almost irrelevant.

For the most part I don't think it's intentional (Huddersfield on the last day apart). But when it comes to the play-offs, it IS the club playing it smart, because we're still one of the best teams around in knock-out football. The coaching and management will be fully aware of the need to improve regular season performances.

I honestly don't think it's Leeds' problem. It's for other sides to make sure that they're matching the rhinos standards so that we can't coast through the regular rounds

| Wire are favourites and rightly so. I like that we are underdogs.
Got £5 at 16/1 for Leeds grand final win just before playoffs
£5 on Delaney for MOM 50/1
