So is he going to be your Joel Monaghan next season? Come on be realistic. One thing you do have is a decent three quarter line at Leeds. You need to sort out your half backs out. Where is Burrows natural position, McGuire needs some competition as he is starting to stagnate and is in a comfort zone. Sinfield IS NOT a half back and should be playing loose forward. Dont rate Ablett at all but he is a second row and not a centre. You maybe need a good quality full back, a young up and coming half back and a couple of decent props to replace Peacock and Leuleui.

| Forwards in order of preference;
Mark Minichello, Matt Ballin, Moi Moi, Russell Packer, Jeremy Latimore, Dene Halatau, Ukuma Ta'ai
Backs;
Brett Stewart, Sam Perrit, Jonathan Wright, Steve Turner
Unfortunately, the majority of those Who are Aussies ain't really gonna be available to a Superleague team due to having Origin or international hopes, or the salaries they'd expect.
I'd be tempted to throw some money at some of the kiwis as they may come over, and have a real bash at Stewart who may be tempted to get away from the Aussie press.

A good list and I agree that the Aussie's will not want to forego SOO and internationals so target the Kiwis. We were linked with Sam Perrit 3/4 years ago.
As I mentioned on another thread there is a rumour linking us to David Williams.
Stewart would be a great fullback but can't see him leavng Manly.
I'm sure a lot of these names are on GH's radar screen!

I wasn't being serious, hence the ....the amount of debate his signing caused on this board, I found it funny to think of how much there would be should he return!
And he can't have been playing that badly for Newcastle, he was set for Origin until picking up an injury wasn't he?

Was between him and Robbie Farrar who did a good enough job for NSW, or did you not watch Origin 1.

Crikey, calm down. The question was who caught your eye, he would be one of the big ones of all the OOC players listed. I never stated it was going to happen did I? Doesn't mean I can't want it to though does it?

Always calm, thanks for your concern but am also a realist. Why hope for something you cant have. Why does McDermott continue to play key players out of position. Why does he persist with playing Burrow at 9, Sinfield at 6. The one i cant get though is Ablett, who has just to my amazement been given a 5 year contract. Honestly where there NRL clubs sniffing round? He is a good club player, nothing else. Why play him in the centres when he is a natural 12. Your replacement for Gareth Ellis.

Correct,no matter how good your backs are you will not often beat the top teams when your pack is beaten every week.
We need at least 3 quality forwards for next season and beyond.

Yes I did thanks, the point was that you said he was 'not exactly standing out'.
If that was the case, how did he warrant even being considered for Origin selection?

Then after watching it you will agree the forwards led by Farrer and Paul Gallen dominated the second half, like Gus Gould pointed out the Queensland forwards were out on their feet.

It was never between buderus and farrah, was always buderus till he was injured!!
Buhrer was even brought onto the bench because sticky didn't think farrah could handle SOO.

I wasn't on about Robbie Farah (or indeed Paul Gallen's) performance in Origin I.
I was taking issue with your statement that Danny Buderus 'wasn't standing out' at Newcastle. If he had not got injured, he would have been starting in that game. Not something that happens if you are not playing well!!

And my issue is he was not missed. Not sure if Danny is fit again but has not been selected for game 2 either.

I will say it again, for the last time: HOW DID HE EVEN WARRANT SELECTION IF HE WASN'T STANDING OUT?
Don't think many players (outside of Thurston/Smith/Slater for Queensland) would be especially 'missed' at Origin level would they? It's not as if any replacement wouldn't be up to the standard.

| People really need to stop looking to the NRL to solve our problems. The chances of a young quality player wanting to give up on the NRL and move to SL are next to nil. Especially if Leeds insist on sticking to their apparently fairly rigid pay scales.
