Batts regularly went out on the bin rounds with his old man when he was a highly paidpremiership footballer. He's one of those players that actually doesn't like the game, never watches any, just happened to be very good at it.

It's why I made up what I did, thought it might have just passed as believable.

Alan Smith linked with a return, would he get in the side? He cant tackle so maybe as Larry seems to like midfielders that cant tackle.

I would be willing to forgive and forget to a certain extent if he came back, he is the type of midfielder we need.

He did but you could argue he got the best deal for the club, as Man U were reportedly the only club to be offering the cash upfront, which we badly needed. Not saying I was happy when he went but happen he put the performances and effort in for us should he join, I would support him.

Allan Clarke will always be a hero to me and my group of mates if only for the way that he treated one of our gang at a night match at Elland Rd two years ago. Our friend was liberated from Wheatfields in a wheelchair taxi just two weeks before he died and taken to a private box that belonged to someone we knew, Clarkey was doing the rounds of the hospitality boxes that night and someone briefed him on our mate, he walked into the box and greeted him like an old friend, ignored everyone else and sat and chatted to him for the whole of the first half, he didn't know just how much that meant to our friend because Allan Clarke was his favourite player of the Revie days, he talked about that night right up to the last time we saw him alive a fortnight later.

I'm not expecting a win or draw at all tomorrow but hope it isn't a complete thrashing. Gonna say 2-0 to them. Lets just concentrate on the play off spot. Think the scum and spurs games last season derailed us and had the league gone on for an extra game or 2 we'd probably still be stuck in that league!

Don't know how representative that is of the feeling towards him up there and how he has performed for them.

FWIW I wouldn't have him back, don't think he's good enough in midfield as he's not a great passer of the ball or tackler. He runs round loads, does a few sliding tackles, waves his arms about and gets plenty of bookings but Andy Hughes already does all that.

Sounds like he has quite the fanbase up there



He was a poor mans Kevin Davies when he was with us anyway, does he even know what his favoured position on a football field is? He's only playing midfield now cos Fergie tried turning him into something he's not!

I thought he did a decent job at Newcastle in the Championship, but I didn't see many of their games. I had not considered the fact that his football ability might not be good enough. Those geordies really are big fans!

Need to score first against Arsenal to have any chance of even a draw. They aren't great at the back at the best of times, especially that Squillaci. He's been terrible for them this year and he's slow, could do with Gradel getting in behind with his pace.
They'll have too much quality for us, especially the likes of Arshavin and Rosicky, they'll probably have 70% possession aswell but as long as it's not too embarrasing then i'm not too bothered, we'll be expected to get hammered anyway.

I like to be optimistic about our chances in games but got too many mates going down today that are expecting a repeat of the scum game last year. Yep we played well that day but we caught them on a bad day and that was one of the worst performances they've had in years, 99 times out of 100 and they'd have spanked us. Like I said just don't want us to get thrashed by a cricket score!

Hopefully we'll play like we did against the Scousers and Salford last year and won't get a hiding and play sh#*.
