There could be every chance his first stint (1986/87) was due to being miffed about not being selected for the 1986 tour. However there would have been no sense of injustice prior to his second stint (1988/89) as he had already gained test selection by then in the 1988 ashes down under that immediately preceded his 2nd guest stint with Leeds. The next Ashes tour to GB was 1990.

If you really meant his sense of injustice was prior to his 1st Leeds stint it all makes sense. I'll give you that open door. Take it.

Which shows Leeds to be the third most successfull Challenge Cup winning side over that period and that incidentally matches their place on the all-time Challenge Cup list so has to be more representative than any selective 32 year snap-shot.
