For me 2009 wasn't just about the final - if it was Lee Smith had more of an influence in the win than anyone - it was about the year and Peacock was immense in that year - without him we would not have got to the final.

McShane is doing the business today. His width of vision when on the goal line is especially impressive.
It's another step to be able to do this week in and week out, and withstand the physical beating that means. A year of splitting duty should see him in great position to become 1st choice and play the majority of every game in 2012.

The only player in the current Leeds team who has ever impressed me has been Sinfield, who is a superb player. But you have a real talent in McShane. He's like Cunningham in his reading of a game and ability to exploit any opportunity, especially near the line.

Is it just me or has Mcshane's tackling style looking more and more like Buderus'? They way he goes into the collision to me looks very similar and maybe is something Buderus' has worked on with him.

Mcshane has the best long kicking game in the first team too. His kicking out of dummy half is awesome.

You might want to go watch three games from October 2007, 2008 and 2009. I'm sure you'll find a few others who impress you.

Just to counter, even though we've completely dominated you in big games over the last few years I'm still always impressed by Roby, Graham, Puletua. They are always overshadowed by wonderful one off performances by Pryce and Meli though

Today was his most impressive performance for me. This is because he set the tone rather than opening the game up after a platform had been laid. He took the defence on from the very first set, displayed wonderful vision and when he ran from dummy half he ran with a real purpose. His defence is also massively improved.

Really showing the ability he looked like he had as a youngster and is now starting to look like a complete player. Played Milner off the park, who was by no means poor.

I went to those games. I repeat: the only player in the Leeds team who ever impressed me was Sinfield. He is a superb player. I repeat also: you have a real talent in McShane.

Then you were clearly blind drunk, had your eyes shut or don't have a Scooby Doo about rugby league. If McGuire, Peacock and Smith haven't impressed you in those three games, to name 3, then no one ever will

McGuire - great supporting player and is quick when released but there are a few of those knocking around; Peacock - ageing forward, better players in his position already; Smith - he was ok before he went to union, but I've not noticed him at all since his return. Has he played for you? McShane, though, stands apart from the rest (bar Sinfield, who is superb even if he does whinge a lot).

Peacock might be an ageing forward but he still carried our pack against you in 3 Grand Finals. He hasn't always been ageing.

Smith was one of the most influential players in those games. What he is doing now (not a great deal and now he's injured) is irrelevant in the context of your initial post.

McGuire was the best half in SL last year.

I'd add Hall, Lauitiiti, Burrow and others to my argument but I think I've proved my point.

Ah, you're being silly. Or perhaps desperate to prove a point that cannot be proven, since it is all opinion and not fact. But let me pander to your childish side and restate my case: While I have been a fan of rugby league, the only Leeds player to have impressed me as a player is Sinfield.

McShane is the second Leeds player to impress me as a player. I hope he continues to develop and improve his game in the same style. If he does, hopefully we will see him in an England shirt at some point in the future.
