Wonderfull that it is Garry to have the biggest plasma telly in the County, a winning team, playing attractive attacking rugby is more what we are looking for.

The club announced a new (MUCH NEEDED) screen (hopefully with a Match Clock visible from the Southstand!!), enhancing the experience for fans with replays, redeveloping the ground a bit at a time. Not only that but they've managed to start the work when they promised they would, despite half the Country being off work with the weather, and yet our very own "FANS" still managed to somehow turn it into a negative thing....

Honestly - Our kettle blew up so we bought a new one, then had to get the matching toaster (in chrome) which them meant the washer, dryer and dishwasher didn't quite match (still trying to work out why?).

By the end of it a full new kitchen was installed complete with cooker, microwave and appliances - all because of one friggin' kettle.

You have been put in your place by other posters on this, but they are indeed correct.

The Western Terrace has some major issues that make re-development (to add a roof) prohibitive both practically and financially. Major planning hurdles, a public right of way to maintain and the huge cost of actually doing the work because of those and other factors.

The pay-back period versus return in increased away support would be in excess of 25 years plus I would estimate, by some quick calcs. So the answer is currently, it is not worth it, but I understand that it will probably be the final project once the North Stand is replaced.

In all fairness to the fellar though, it will probably cost more in actual money for the screen than it would to put a roof up.

And when we talk about payback, where is the payback on this screen? It's great for supporters yes, but is it actually really really needed?

Of course that is working on it been straightforward, which you have quite rightly pointed out it is not. In that we would be unlikely to get planning permission to put up the roof, and other logistical problems.

I don't know how much cinemas charge to show adverts before films come on, but I would imagine there is some money to be made charging for advertising space on a giant screen that is going to be seen by 15,000 people once a fortnight.

This is like banging some 19 inch rims and tyres and a five grand paint job on a Lada Riva

I think a cool £5m would do a good job on re-developing the Western Terrace to include a roof, you might get it down as low as £3.5m to £4m at a push possibly!

I have no idea how much one of these screens cost but I bet it is maybe £500k fully installed? Big difference in cost!
