I like Abide with Me, it's traditional like the Challenge Cup and since we don't have much tradition or much of a link to the past in rugby league anymore I'd like to keep it. If anything it'd be better to get rid of the national anthem and the VIP greeting the players, it slows proceedings down.

Perhaps something by Hannah Montana or N' Dubz could replace it?

I sung my little heart out to Abide with me and always do. It's what you do at the CC final.

So did Bernard Manning, Bernard Cribbins, Ed "Stewpot" Stewart, Ken Dodd, Bernie Clifton, Windsor Davies, Don Estelle and Cannon & Ball. Once upon a time anyway. I was too busy being entertained by a certain commentator pumping out his chest and lungs to it, along with "God Save The Queen". Prefer the Sex Pistols version myself.

It would be an appalling new low for RL in this country if Abide with Me was no longer sung at Wembley.

Only one verse of both the national anthem ( who's idea was it to call it God Save The Queen this year ? ) , and Abide With Me , don't take up too much of your day .

I prefer people who pay their debts and pay their way, and don't hide behind internet personas to get away with offensive claptrap.

ridiculous. It's a great song, and should be sung all the way through. The national anthem you can can, don't care for praying to keep a millionaire old woman with access to the best doctors money can buy in good health.

Oddly enough I see the national anthem more of a show of solidarity towards those whom put their lives in danger for that old woman. I would like to think that those who took the oath to serve and protect that old woman, might watch the Challenge cup final and feel that the public has some appreciation for what they risk their lives for.

I found the singing of "Abide with me" less embarrassing than the playing of "Jerusalem" before the start of each day's home international cricket.

For anyone that is worried about slowing the flow down before kick-off at least the players are no longer introduced individually to the crowd. Always felt a bit sorry for the full-backs when they peeled away from the line as they had no -one to throw the ball to.

wembley wouldn't be the same without Abide with me sang my heart out as well also to the national Anthem in absolute agreement with Loiner
