| Glad to see Carl Ablett in there. Most under-appreciated player in our team. It's taken ten years for him to get a chant, and it's a bloody second hand one!

| Team and coach tosses it off again during the regular season, finishes a lowly 6th out of 14 in a league consisting of at least 8 whipping boy SL rabble clubs, and that translates into no less than the inclusion of 5 players in the Super League Dream Team of 2014?
You couldn't make this crap up.
OTOH, this is the Super League product we are talking about here therefore I guess you can.
And get away with it.

5 is a high number I agree, and some like Watkins are picked not really on form, but on reputation. He was on fire at the start of the year, but that seems a long time ago now.
However, this team was in the battle for top for most of the season, until it rightly took second place behind the CC campaign in importance.

Watkins has had about four good games this year, and the rest nothing. Tolerated because he is such a super talent.
But where is the competition to his place there? which is what backs up Williams little rant.

| Watkins hasn't been that good for most of the year, but am struggling to think of a centre other than Shenton (assume he's also in the team) who has been.

| Only JP and Hardaker should get in from Leeds really. Hall has been good (his best games have been in CC though) however i would say Carney and Monaghan have been better over the season.Watkins has done very little in the second of the season to warrant selection.

| Fair enough. I've watched far fewer games this year than I normally do and was merely assuming that someone, somewhere would have outperformed Watkins. If not, I guess he merits a place. But surely to god, allah, or whoever he can't have been one of the best centres?

| On this season I'd have selected Dan Sarginson from Wigan (via London) as one of the centres - he's been a stand out consistent performer even when Wigan have dipped, IMO - such as the game away at Hull KR.

It was probably down to playing all over though that cost him. I don't think he has managed more games in any one position compared to others.

| For much of the year Leeds have been the best team in the competition. 6 points more (Wakefield, London and Bradford) and we would have been looking at the LLS as well as the CC in the bag. During the cup run they have also shown that they can lift it and dominate other good sides (although not quite being able to really put them away till late in the game). I don't think it's unreasonable to select 5 players. If it wasn't for what seems to be a considerable CC hangover, I would still have Leeds as favourites for the Championship as well, but it's not looking great.
Does seem as though the seasons job has been done which would be a waste after the extremely impressive early season form where defence was pretty unbelieveable and our right side attack - particularly with Hardaker - was very effective.
Fingers crossed and we get Leeds from early season back. Evevryone is fit so no real excuses from now.

| Watkins has not been the best centre in the Leeds team never mind Super League, also on current form Zak may find himself fortuntate to have sneaked in ahead of Escare buth is recent form is probably down to his mind not been 100% on it.

| Justifying 5 Leeds players in the dream team on the basis of some marginally above average early season form which bizarrely translates to some as the "best team in the competition" surely earns an outright muppet award?
This increasingly incredulous and absurd sport may as well go the whole hog and present McDermott with his SL coach of the year gong whilst it's at it.

Putting aside the 5 leeds players in the team (matched only by Saints 2006 team I think), as an outsider looking in, I'd of had Moon in the team before Watkins going on how theyve played this year (from what Ive seen at least)

I think that these sorts of of events are flawed in any case, given that they get announced before the real competition gets started.
The real class players in SL will step up to be counted in the next 4 weeks

I think each of the players have played well.
The team may have finished 6th but the dream team is built on individual performances. Otherwise you wouldn't expect any Cas players in there given they as a team have choked on both occasions they had chance to win things.

| For me Hardaker Hall & Peacock fully deserve their selections and although I think both Watkins and Ablett are quality players I would have had Monaghan/Wardle instead of KW and Ferres/Millington instead of CA but Abbo was closer to selection than KW over the course of the actual season imo.
Either way its not an actual Team that will play any kind of representative match so means very little in the grand scale of things but something for the likes of Bill and co to spout off/troll.
The awards I'd hand out this year are YPOTY Clarke COTY Powell TOTY Cas and MOS Peacock.
