That is providing Ablett recieves the ban he's likely to get.
Bit of a weird selection but moving Senior to the forwards would enable us to play Smith who's got a bit of an xfactor about him for big games like this and you kind of expect something big from him.

Anyways, I reckon we'll be without at least one of Ablett/Bailey.

Webb.
Donald
Delaney
Senior
Hall
Mcguire
Burrow
Peacock
Buderus
Kylie
Jjb
Ablett
Sinfield.
Bailey
Ali/Clarkson
Ambler
Smith.
If Ablett gets banned then go with Clarkson.
I've gone with Smith purely because of his big game performances and Ambler comes in for Burgess because i think he's in better form.

Clarkson would allow Sinny to 6 and Mags to 7 and Burrow to 9 so we could spell Buderus if he needs it.

As should the majority of the team then - most of them aren't in the best of form.

| As our only out and out genuine match winner in the backs, then Smith would have to be in it somewhere.
He may well have been sluggish and out of form in two or three of the games, but he is till a match winner out of nothing.
I would also go back to basics and put Burrow back in at scrum half. I moaned about him at the start of the season, but I thought he was one of our best players on Friday, and I have seen nothing the Mcguire Sinfield partnership to give me confidence.
The forwards should be picked on the fittest available, as I don't think there was much of a problem with the forwards on Friday, just the backs.

| Same for me about back to basics.
McGuire and Burrow do the full 80 in the halfs with Sinfield at 13 to give the bit more space and time he needs with the ball.
Buderus & Diskin only at 9
2nd row is a little light for me, no Eastwood and probably no Ali or Ablett, as much as I like Clarkson he is still a bit lightweight.
Not sure about Smith, I don't see what he could have offered on friday what we didn't already have but then again this is a semi final and Smith was made for these kind of games.

Any defence of Donald from Friday is crazy IMO. Not that he was alone in the backs. But Smith would have been an improvement on any of the backs Friday.
And you are right, Smith is made for these kind of games, proven many times previously.

Not seen much of Smith this season, but he appears to have lost his edge/fitness and gained a few pounds since his spell in the other game? Having said that, I would prefer him not to play, simply becasue of the way he has done for Saints in the last couple of GFs, he certainly seems to have the "X" factor in our games.

what a plonker.
If we contain them in the middle and stop the offload to running support we will win, see no reason why not.

Our team is past it and the coach is clueless. I for one won't be even bothering watching as there is no point.

Singling out Webb is a bit harsh....and Smith hasn't exactly grabbed his chance of regularly claiming that FB position after some recent lacklustre performances. However, I do think he should be part of the 17 on Saturday. Not sure where though.
Delaney IMO is a concern on attack - not really quick enough and doesn't look enough to get his winger away (when he does [ia la Salford recently[/i it is a pleasure to see). Donald is still an asset on attack if we can actually utilise his pace by releasing him into that much needed space.
Maybe then a back line of 2/Hall (who doesn't need the same space to run in as Donald ...and who has played successfully on the right), 3/Delaney, 4/Senior, 5/Donald (who does need the space ....and where Senior is more likely to give him it as we know from the past) ...with Smith then to come off the bench as a game changer/to replace the worse incumbent starting performer from 1 to 5.
McGuire and Burrow to start in the halves; Sinfield back at LF with possibly Clarkson in the 2nd row to replace the highly likely suspended Ablett (not off the bench ...would rather see Ambler for that).
Depends if Ali makes it for bench, but wouldn't like to see Diskin there if Smith fills one of those bench spots (becomes too lightweight).
However I do think Diskin will be sharp eager and up for this so....who knows. I give in. It's a tough call.

| Lets face it, we cant go lightweight against Stains. Our bench should consist of 3 props/2nd rows and Diskin if available.
So we cant exactly have Smith on the bench. Imo its either he misses out or someone is dropped. If anyone is to be dropped, i think it should be Donald. His kick collection looked poor on Friday. But who knows.

Problem with that is you have Meli to contend with who appears to be playing destructively well at left centre...that's why I would keep Delaney at right centre for his defence beefed up on the right with Hall.
Clarkson is a good starting choice somewhere in the back row but he is not an impact player/game changer off the bench.
