I don't want this to become a witch hunt or a slagging off session, but surely we have a better wing option somewhere. I thought that a lad that small playing wing in the SL would have bags of pace, but Eastmond and even Graham got back to him quite easily when he was put awy down the sideline. Not staying in the field of play there was just criminal as well, and he was cast off into touch just as easily away at Wigan a few weeks ago.

I know he's part time and I know he's certainly trying his hardest but I just don't see what he offers.

he took the wrong option. as did most of our highly experienced players at some point too last night.
he didn't do any worse than a lot of our players, certainly did as well as his centre, one of the two most exerienced and decorated players in todays game

Great prospect, just needs experience, unfortunately top grade experience is very expensive in terms of wrong positioning, wrong options and bad choices.

Given time I think the lad might have a future.

He seems to be lacking both in pace and confidence at the mo, and is prone to fumbles in our own 20. That is down to him, not whoever his centre is. Its a big ask for a young guy, but it's a hard world out there on a super League pitch. That said, He's surely got the rest of the season to show whether he can cut it with the big boys?

Playing outside the experienced bald eagle isnt helping which is more of a worry.

After Hall's nightmare last night I can officially announce that I need Scott Donald back.

When Buderus made that lovely break and passed to Senior he seemed to have no faith in passing onto Bush.....instead passing back to Buderus who then made the overly ambitious failed attempt to pass back out to the young kid.

Confidence shot after his being easily pushed into touch ?? He needs more chances when/if we ever regain full team confidence this season. Besides, isn't he a full back in the second string ??

I'm with you....we need Scott Donald back.

And I'd settle for the CC this year.

The second Bush got that ball I was shouting to cut inside. After the sets we had defended we were desperate for the ball. Poor decision by a young experienced lad.

Still, his last outing had the knee jerk fekkwitts on here proclaiming him great so no surprise after last night to see him being written off.

Also pleasing to see so many back track over Donald.

He had 2 ridicuously awkward kicks to deal with, one with backspin that took a wicked bounce and the other which deflected of one of our players and was spinning all over the shop.

Everything went st helens way in that game. Everything.

I was saying exactly that. We didn't play well, and we had zero luck to go with it. A potent combination to deal with.

I noted his lack of pace against Wigan and again he was run down. It's not the inexperienced option he took of getting bundled into touch on the 1st tackle that I'd be concerned about, it's his lack of pace.

He is a young lad who took a poor option - was that option any worse than Sinfield passing straight to a Saints player 10 yards from their line.

He was caught because he had slowed down looking for non-existent support.

Unfortunately this was a pivotal moment in the game.

I also thought it was a poor option, but I would also give the lad some leeway. Defending outside Senior is not as easy as some people believe. It would have been a far better option to have had the lad outside Delaney, who is far superior to Senior defensively.

Same here, I thought he was asking to be taken into touch letting Eastmond close the angle like that over such a distance, also a little disappointed that he didn't have any more pace, He looked a bit scared with ball in hand instead of just putting his head down and running.

It's still very early days in the lads career, plenty of time yet.

Iagree to early to be put on the scrap heap. He does appear to have a lack of pace. but given how the rest of the team are perfoming pretty hard to shine.

Lee Smith isn't that sharp on the wing either but he has other attributes that help soften that blow.

What do the Academy watchers see as Bush's attributes?

It would have been a far better option to have him outside Delaney simply because it would have meant changing the defensive combinations on one side of the field rather than on both wings

A coaching mistake by McLennan IMO.

All three of Tom Bush's 1st grade games have been on the left wing defending outside of Senior and Burrow with Hall swapping wings.

I'd imagine that would be coach McClennan's counter argument.

Consistency of selection has been difficult to achieve this year due to injuries - don't add to it by making unnecessary positional changes.

Selecting Bush to play outside of Senior and Burrow and switching Hall to the right has been coach McClennan's consistent policy when using the inexperienced winger.

My natural instinct towards Bush is warm.

And mildly moist...?
