| Quote Super League Champions Leeds Rhinos will be without England Knights winger Ben Jones-Bishop for up to six months following medical advice.
The winger, who scored 23 tries last season and featured in the World Club Challenge and Grand Final wins as well as the Challenge Cup Final, has been advised to avoid all contact for three months whilst he undergoes a course of treatment after which time he can resume full training.
Commenting on the condition, Leeds Rugby's Head of Medical Services Dr Jon Greenwell said, "The condition was picked up by the medical and strength and conditioning staff during pre-season training and Ben was sent to see a specialist prior to Christmas. [uHe has had a pulmonary embolism which has led to him needing treatment for three months and a consequence of that treatment is that he can not play rugby until after the treatment is completed and he has been given the all clear by his specialist.[/u Ben is still in light training but under advice from the specialist he is unable to play for three months. We are confident the treatment will resolve the problem.'"

get well soon Ben. I had a blood clot behind my knee,and whilst I was still allowed to run I had to avoid body contact. The Warfarin I was taking thins the blood and if I had cut myself I was warned it would bleed like crazy . Fine now though

Has one myself after i had my knee re-con, not a very nice experience indeed, in fact it was a blue light job to hospital
The conditon will be sorted within a week but its the meds your on for the blood thinning that means he cant play, i remember bruising badly at any slight bump, never mind the sort youd get in training, never mind playing
Good luck to the lad.

He's been lucky! excellent job from medical staff as always these days. Blake Greens clot was in leg but got back aheadof schedule. Hope Ben does too. Funny how two years running we have players with the same type of complaint.

Good to hear BJB is in good hands and it is something Leeds have been excellent at, looking after and keeping playetrs fit and healthy, especially the youngsters coming through.
Jamel and Vickery to compete, but would also be interested in Keinhorst having a possible look in there as well, not the fastest from a wingers point, but from what I have seen , strong under high balls and great finish with quick feet, give them all game time I say

Get well soon. I had what he had but I'm on Warfarin for life due to a PE but I unfortunately got lots of clots in both lungs and thank goodness he has got it found out and he'll be back to business in a few months.

It can be fatal and I only just got away with it according to the docs in hospital. |
