| Was Watkins kept on when he was clearly crippled.
Cost you two tries and probably the game.
Can't understand it.

| Terrible coaching decision!
Fair play to the players, a good effort, but had their hands tied behind their backs carrying a passenger all second half - meant we were struggling defensively and completely blunt down the right in attack.
It's another serious question of McD's in game management....

| McDermott had put a bet on that Watkins would play the full game?
They'd lost Watkins number so they couldn't take him off?

| Or maybe the coach thought it was still the best option?
The alternative was moving Ablett to the right centre, so not setting up Moon's try on the left?

| Steve and Eddie were over reacting to Watkin's health, which didn't really look as bad as they were making out. x% of Watkins may well still have been the best option out there rather than whatever other options we might have tried to use.

So, you think that was the right call to leave Watkins out there? When he couldn't get out of a jog to keep up with the Achurch break, he should've been replaced. He was clearly goosed and totally ineffective.

If he could hardly walk how did he keep making tackles?
As Richie says, it was overblown by Eddie & Stevo

I watch the game without commentary so i don't know what hyperbowl they were peddling but watkins looked battered.

Apart from shooting out of the line to allow the Wigan score (which he continues to do on occasions when 100% fit), Watkins was superb in defence for Leeds this evening and a threat in attack even when struggling. As another poster pointed out, there were few options in taking him off. Only Moon had a better game in the backs IMO - BJB was a liability tonight but no doubt Watkins/McDermott will take all the flack.

| Mcdermotts stubborn attitude cost us a good crack at it in that 2nd half!! Dave open your eyes Watkins was no where near fit that 2nd half n sutcliffe should have been swapped in. Also Clarkson should have been used for a spell before his first on 60mins to rest peacock or jjb. Didn't deserve to win with poor attacking and iffy defense but still had a shot at half and even more when scores levelled if playing with 13 fit players. Ridiculous game management and not the first time this season.

The alternative was bringing on Sutcliffe at centre. Not a bad alternative.

| The only way keeping Watkins out there was the right decision was if he had come up with magical play for a match winner. He cost us the game, not his fault, he wasn't fit. The coach has a duty to look after his players welfare. This coach has proven time and time again, player welfare is not a concept he understands.

It's not about apportioning blame.
I'm not that bothered about the result as I'm a Hull neutral.
I just thought that it was obvious that Watkins lack of mobility left you vulnerable and Wigan obviously took advantage.
When you scored your first try you should have replaced him, kept it tight and given your track record have ground out the victory.
McD has led you to two successsive GF wins so fair play to his judgement. It's just not what I've had done.

| Watkins was very clearly not right, and Wigan exploited that for the Farrell try. He shouldn't have been on the pitch. You don't win big games by having players so obviously incapacitated still out there. Major coaching error.
Forget the scoreboard, we were second best by a long long way tonight. No lack of effort from the players (but you would expect that wouldn't you at this stage) but so beaten by a team that plays structured attacking rugby which we failed to handle.
Well played Wigan, although I expect Warrington to beat you next week...

Erm...what did BJB do wrong, except taking loads of high-balls, making cover tackles and getting shoved into touch when Watkins passed to him too early?

Agreed. Watkins was still making the tackles and his handling errors were not due to his legs.
Great effort from all the team with special praise for JP, Ablett, Moon and Kirke. In truth we lost our chance this year at Warrington as we needed to get the week off. Both this years finalists benefitted from the extra weeks rest.

| I have never said Watkins was right, but the fact of the matter remains that he had little to do with Leeds losing tonight but he will still be picked out as a scapegoat by those incapable of analysing the game properly. Forget all the positive contributions he made and listen to what Eddie and Stevo told you. Embarrassing. Watkins should be applauded for his magnificent effort this evening when several other Leeds players had shockers.

No one is blaming watkins himself, jesus. He probably would have carried on with only one leg if the coach let him. But the coach has a responsibility to make the right decisions for the team.
All this conjecture....''well no one else kept up with achurch's break''...... ''he was still able to make some good tackle'' etc etc. Watch the second half, you can see he's not well enough to be out there in a high intensity game of this nature. I don't say this with hindsight either because i said to my old man at the time after about 10 minutes ''why the f***K is he leaving him out?'' then the tries came and I was livid, because i could see it coming.
