I was chatting to the missus the other day about new board members and she suggested that some of the regulars pick on the newbies and give them a hard time.

I told here that as long as you can argue your point and don't just post rash bollox then you'll be accepted.

So tips:

Stand by your opinion, even if it's years down the line. Some guys on here have long memories and a database full of 'quotes' that can and will get dragged up from long ago.

When you're wrong admit it, don't try and fight a lost battle you'll just make yourself look silly. Put your hand up and say "my bad" - you'll get a lot more respect.

Avoid crossing swords with AP ska Keith Swiftcorn ska Jeff - he's a frustrated sole but extremely knowledgeable and tents to pick on those who can't validate their opinion so well.

McLaren_Field is mostly in charge and he tends to be a lot more lenient than most Mods, so things you can get away with on here might land you with a ban on another teams board - especially Wigan.

I wouldn't worry about it. It was a badly set test.

Cake is important here. Remember that and you won't go far wrong. Sadly the quizmaster (JamieB, I'm shaking my head disapprovingly here) included what appears to be a bannoffee instead. So you had no chance.

The off-season is upon us, so a good chance to get to know everyone's little quirks before the serious business of abusing each other begins in 2012.

I'm sure the mistake in the "cake" picture will go unpunished as that McLaren Field bloke likes banoffee.
I think I once saw him eat three portions.
Or it could have just been one of those weird dreams.

Nowt wrong with a banoffee, but it ain't a cake. That's all I'm saying.

As to whether it was a dream, well, if it also involved a coffee table and a midget, it was either a dream, or you're confusing McLaren Field with G1.

I was distraught as there were actually nine people sat around the table who didn't want their banoffee pie and I couldn't mange the last two, should have gone easy on the chicken course I suppose.

Don't know if I mentioned this last week but our Dogs Trust adopted German Shepherd Dog, Jackson likes cake too, it was one of the first things we put on the list of requirements when we went to adopt a dog, "Must like cake".

Three weeks ago my youngest daughter baked 24 muffin buns and left them out on the kitchen worktop to cool, when she came back there was just the plate and a big fat German Shepherd Dog laying on his bed licking his lips, he'd eaten the bun cases as well and licked the plate clean but it was obvious that he'd nicked them.

Last week she baked a huge Betty Crocker chocolate fudge cake, we had a slice each and then she left it on the kitchen worktop, we all went to work but as she works evening shifts she didn't get up until later when we all got a text from her asking which one of us had given her massive chocolate fudge cake to the dog.

He learned from when he nicked the buns by eating the whole cake and then taking the plate down off the worktop and putting it next to his own food bowls on the floor so that she'd think that one of us had put the plate there.

Great dog.
