But in your view not great news about Buderus?
How about if he went to the Crusaders?

You seriously think that is great news?
A club of this stature feeling it as to offer a 35 year old a new contract due to it's options.

| Good to hear Buderus is enjoying his rugby now, that can only be a good thing as it will effect his performances. Its was documented he was unhappy and wasn't enjoying his rugby, couldn't blame him as he a torrid year. Buderus should improve from here on in and earn a new contract.
Keith was never going to retire. He has a few years left in him yet!

I hope to be proved wrong re Senior but i wouldn't retain either.
Seeing Keith roll back the years yesterday was a joy to watch and hopefully he'll continue in that vein of form till the end of the year but overall he's looked his age so far this year and less effective with ball in hand and in defence.
Don't get me wrong he's been the best centre i've personally seen in the Blue 'N' Amber but he's 34 next month and the SL isn't getting easier and i'd hate to see him end it all with a "season too far" effort.
If he stays and goes on to ram the words down my throat then brilliant or maybe use him next year sparingly in a "mentor" type of role.
As for Buderus re-signing him for a yr could cost us a very good prospect in Mcshane and i wouldn't risk that.

that's good news, hope that bederus is planning to do his extra year with Newcastle nights though! Nothing agAinst him and he is a good player but he is 32 and if we ain't careful we could lose one of the most promising young hookers in mcshane

| This season Saints are in a similar position to what we might be in next year. They have 3 quality hookers and one plans to retire. They have managed to keep hold of Moore whilst Cunningham plays his last year. Patience will pay off for McShane, but he's probs been thinking that for 2 years already.

| Senior is still one of the best centres in RL, and Leeds will certainly miss him when he does go.
Steve Menzies has shown age is no barrier when you have the class to play at an age when many have to retire.

Dont care what he does. If he wants to continue playing, then I wish him luck, just as long as it is not with Leeds.

| i would offer either of them a new deal, mcshane will be more than ready next year ( he already is imo) and although senior did well yesterday i'm not sure he has another season in him, only time will tell.

| Those not rating Senior, wasn't he touted on here as a potential man of steel last year? Has he gone so far backwards in 12 months for consideration of getting rid? I think not.

I'd offer Senior another deal on current form. I don't think they'll offer Buderus one. I have no issue with his form like some people, and the whole do we need him or not is an entirely separate issue. But I think the club will recognise that unless we want to lose McShane, then he needs to be given his chance next season, while also freeing some cap space for other areas of the team.

Just offering an opinion taking into account his age and form thus far this year.
If he continues yesterdays form great the club benefit as do we as Leeds fans it still doesn't disguise that maybe his best days are behind him.
If he stays then again he'll be supported but i personally think his time as an elite centre is coming to an end and like i posted above i'd be more than happy to be proved wrong.

| I think its great news. Time will tell with Senior but I think he will be fine for another year and Buderus is quality. I would like to see McShane loaned out for a year because he needs to play and I just don't know where he can fit in the team atm. A big potential lost if we loose him

Isn't Diskin also out of contract at the end of 2010?
If so who is to say that we have to let Buderus carry on for another year at one of our rivals in order not to risk upsetting/blocking McShane's first team chances.
I'm not saying it will or even should happen but whose to say the club might chose Buderus and McShane as our two pronged hooking strategy for 2011?? If so i'm sure it would cause a riot with many of the anti Buderus brigade on here

So its wrong to bring in world class rated overseas stars years younger than Senior, with the excuse of holding back youngsters? But fine to give a 35 year old a contract?

Quite right, probably the only proven world class player at the club, lets just get rid, or why not let him play 80 mins a week like he did while captaining teams in the far inferior NRL, SOO, and on the international stage. I rate Diskin in high regard as a English hooker but I also see the bigger picture outside of hero worship at Headingley, I've seen better Leeds Hookers than Diskin win fu@k all, wrong place, wrong time, diskins been fortunate.
