So, basically what Stewards used to be paid to do, heck what I use to be paid to do at Headingley. IF anyone is thinking of doing just be warned, it is boring, so very very boring, for about the first 2 hours nothing happens and very few people arrive, and doing that in the rain/snow/cold is not fun when you are being paid, I cant imagine doing it for nowt (well for a rugby ticket)

Surely it's to supplement the role of the Stewards not to supplant it?
AFAIK the provsion of stewards is a mandatory requirement of the licencing authority & not at the whim of the stadium owners or the team(s) that play there.

Yes stewards are needed, but back when I used to do it we had 3 people outside each of the entrances with a supervisor and security there, I presume they are getting rid of those 3 stewards, and just having the supervisor, security and now voulenteers
