It was discussed on here and IIRC it was relatively proved that the additional penalty for dissent is counted but that Opta can make mistakes.
This week, by my records, Leeds were penalised a total of 8 times in total:
32 seconds - Ablett - Flop
21 minutes - Sinfield/Peacock - Obstruction (In Possession)
31 minutes - Diskin - Hand in the PTB
__________
48 minutes - Ablett - Ball Steal
53 minutes - Webb - High tackle
64 minutes - Webb/Pitts - Obstruction (In Possession)
64 minutes - Webb - Dissent
77 minutes - Kirke - Not Square At The PTB
Previously and without review I'd stated the following on the basis that I knew there was something wrong without nailing it down.
Quote ="tvoc"Looking at the 8 penalties Leeds conceded
Opta have marked them against:
2 - Webb, Ablett
1 - Smith, Kirke, Diskin, Peacock
I noted:
3 - Webb (High Tackle, Obstruction Involving Pitts, Dissent)
2 - Ablett (Flop, Ball Steal)
1 - Diskin (Hand In PTB), Sinfield (Obstruction Involving Peacock), Unknown (77th minute Offside)
'"
So on review no issues with the counts against Ablett (2) and Diskin.
The 'Unknown 77th minute Offside' penalty was in fact awarded against Kirke (according to Sky for not standing square) which I can accept.
Leeds were penalised twice for crossing while in possession, the first time involving Sinfield with ball in hand and Peacock offering support/dummy run. Opta have gone against the dummy runner in this case where I went against the ball carrier. Fair enough I'm not going to fall out over the different interpretation there, each to their own when apportioning blame.
However on the second occurrence Webb ran behind (or at least was penalised for running behind) Leeds number 20 - Jay Pitts. For Opta (given their previous ruling) to remain consistent they should of marked against Pitts. They erroneously appear to have marked against Lee Smith instead.
That does then at least clear up the Webb count of two penalties being for the high tackle and the dissent.
In addition Wakefield were penalised a total of 9 times by Ian Smith, the comparison of the Wakefield team Opta stats from before and after the game only increased by 8 as did the counts against the individual players, excluding Paul Cooke whose stats have not been updated since he left Craven Park.
Life shouldn't be this difficult. Why can't Opta just get it right. It's not rocket science.
