There isn't q single quote in your post.
Appalling.'"
To be perfectly honest the debate had expanded to a point where even I were losing interest in it.
Quote ="G1"How healthy did it make our game the last time we went the whole hog and banned overseas players?'"
It felt OK at the time but it turned out we were watching a donkey race. The '82 Kangaroo tour demonstrated how the game should be played and it's been catch up ever since.
However as no-one has remotely argued for there being another complete ban on overseas trained players in SL I'm not sure it's a point worthy of discussion here.
The short-term overseas fix employed by anxious, impatient club chairmen and CEOs ever since '84 has had both merits and de-merits but it's always been a question of getting the balance right. The RFL have tried and tried again by lowering the overseas quota but the numbers still increase. I only hope they have more success now with the positive quotas compelling clubs to invest in their youth structures and/or seek to buy British when in the market for new players.
