JOEL Monaghan will attempt to rebuild his career alongside brother Michael at Warrington in the UK Super League - but first he'll have one season with Castleford.
Sport Confidential has been told Monaghan will this week sign a 12-month contract with the Tigers, with the short-term deal meaning he can then join older brother Michael at the Wolves in 2012.

Monaghan took the NRL atrocity-meter into uncharted territory this month when he was captured in a bizarre photograph involving a teammate's dog.

And quite a few clubs have shown interest, so clearly plenty of teams would want him, in terms of playing abilities most nrl clubs would have been happy to sign him a few months ago, one stupid prank doesnt make him a bad player.

I suspect the 'i' in your username may be a tad misplaced.

One year of a quality player is an infinitely better/safer option than 2/3 years of some unknown. And just think of how he could help Arundel progress. Even the doom merchants on the other forum seem generally enthusiastic about our interest in him.

the only decent thing about cas is the fans , thats what i am saying here ......we all deserve better . I dont know what else to do but to stop attending . We have been lied to about a stadium for years , our money has not been put to good use in the player/coaches/staff market , i can not offer up my brass anymore for it to be thrown away by plonkers.

Sorry 'tttiger' who exactly will be to blame if we sign this State of Origin and Australian international centre?

But he could go elsewhere, indeed catalans are trying to make a last ditch attempt to sign him.

Arundel will be playing in the centres next year no matter what, he is shentons replacement, the club are replacing from there own youth structure something most cas fans have been asking for over the last few years.

As for westerman the club tried to sign hauraki, they didnt get him but they offered more money than leeds so there wasnt much else they could do.

With that attitude, it sounds as though you won't be missed. You're clearly one of the ever increasing number of Cas fans that want the moon on a stick yesterday and will accept nothing less. Have you not thought about the fact that a certain level of austerity is necessary whilst the club aims to build for the future? Should these 'plonkers' simply spend all the money on the playing squad in a vain attempt at achieving short term success? Tell me, what happens after that?




You're the one who needs to wake up. Circumstances have provided us with an opportunity to sign a world class international centre for a season. Which club official in their right mind wouldn't jump at the chance if they had the cap space and quota space available to make it happen?

Also Richard Wright stated last week that we had been talking to three centres, which kind of blows your little fantasy theory about the club making no effort to recruit anyone else to smitherines doesn't it? Damn facts always getting in the way of uninformed trolling rants...

To be honest I would rather we signed someone long term like Willia Isa than someone who is only going to be with us for a year - even if he is a former Australian international

I suspect, with the license applications going in this season, it's likely that in our position, we're unable to attract international players on long contracts. If we get another license, I would fully expect the club to be looking more long term for 2012 onwards.

Who was the last player we had with Aus international caps? Have we had one since Gary Belcher?

We clearly wouldn't end up with just Arundal as we are looking at 3 Australian Centres! Sometimes it would be nice to hear something positive because in fairness on last seasons performance it wouldn't take much to replace them as they weren't fantastic! Last year we were worried that Ryan Boyle would come back and bite us but he didn't, let's be fair very rare people go on to be better when they leave cAs honestly, Orr, Vowles wasn't as good, and I'm pretty sure there is more.
We have a good little club and we can play attractive rugby and they may stand out for us but when they leave other teams don't utilise there strengths because there not there star player

So i went to the visitor centre to find out what was going on - guess what , not open , up for rent only been open for a few days since they rented the place . THEY ARE FACTS .........WAKE UP .

Under tm - scott moore (from poo to engand ), mason(muppet to top prop),manu(beer monster to one of superleagues most consistant back rowers) , fai,aso(ale cart to nrl), luke dorn(couldnt defend to doesnt need to defend), danny brough(badly managed to one of top 7/9 in england).
Not many do very well after cas ! ha

And I bet you know just the person/ family of shareholders to provide it

dont know what you mean there , but we do need a change . dont know about shareholders but could anyone else do worse , we are in a rugby league hotbed with a licence and continue to under acheive .

As you've clearly slept through the largest global recession in 80-odd years, you're probably not aware of the devastating impact it's had on the economy and just about every business in the country - that includes sports clubs, builders, architects and any organisation that might consider sponsoring the club or the stadium development. It stands to reason what was FACT 5 years ago, isn't FACT now due to the change in circumstances for everyone.

When did you go to the visitor centre? I passed the other week and it was all open with the stadium designs on show. Granted we don't get to know as much as some of us would like, but if you look at the information we do have, the logical conclusion is that the club are working hard behind the scenes on the project. At the moment I see no reason to believe this is not the case and challenge you to provide any evidence to refute it.

Brough went from couldnt get a game before us to a fantastic player under us, then was just as good, but no better after, he was one of the top 7/9's in england with us.

Mason had an attutde problem when with us and matterson put his foot down, you cant have it both ways you either want the coach to discipline the team or not.

Manu brilliant for us, still as good but more injury prone.

As for faoso (sp) he was always in my opinion overrated, and came from the nrl to join us before returning there.

Your lack of knowledge is only matched by your bitterness.
