IA has forgot, or dare I say it, didn't know everyone who was present at this at meeting.

My Boss/friend actually did go and has no ties whatsoever with Castleford RL and his take on the meeting was one of a more optimistic one for Cas RL. His take on it was that whilst it's true to say that time is an issue (as it always is); it's not as negative as the opening post. To say or imply that the Council were negative just is not true. They have agreed to work extremely closely with Cas and Opus in a way that best serves the community.

My Boss/friend knows how much I love my club and couldn't wait to tell me he'd been to the meeting and how impressed with what he had seen and heard he was, and the interest that Cas' plans have sparked amongst developers and every major supermarket chain.

I hadn't bothered posting this until told by my Mother-in-law (wakey fan....though there's still time!) that it was on here, because it's not really news!

So it would seem to me that IA is indeed here to stir the pot as someone has already alluded to.

As a side issue; I understand why you don't want to publicise your "contact" IA; so I ask that you PM me with it. I'm more than happy to PM you the name of my Boss/friend on the understandig that neither is announced on the open forum. That way I can ask my source whether you're source was at the meeting, thus checking their credibility. Thanks.

Not being negative isn't the same as not being as positive as you hoped.

Just as an aside. This is a quote from the Wakey chairman today about today's game: "it’s a perfect opportunity to show the RFL and wider audience just how much our two teams bring to the game". That should be the message from both clubs.

Hmmm... What a stark contrast to the words the Wakey echelons were 'Tweeting' when they visited Castleford last month. It sounds like the Wakey chairman has undergone some long overdue PR training, but it's a shame we already know his true feelings for Cas.

Glover and Hopkins (Marketing Bod) were tweeting each other, and therefore the world, something along the lines of Cas being a S t Hole and having to wipe their feet coming out of pubs.

I'm not surprised by that - a bit of naivety around social networking combined with over-exuberance in talking up the Derby game.

The Tweeting does seem to have calmed down a bit in the last week, so I'm guessing that words have been exchanged.

Still a bit disrespectfull coming from the chairman, Does he not sell into cas thus not bothered about whats he says about his customers.

As far as I am aware, but can check when I get back to the UK, that the meeting I am talking about was attended only by reprsentatives of Opus, the Club and officers of Wakefield Council. As such, I don't think it would break any confidences if I was to ask you to post, or PM if you would prefer, the capacity in which your boss/friend was attending this meeting. I don't even think the current proposed end user client was at the meeting, so is your company providing constancy services to Opus or the club? I possibly think this might be a different meeting?

Yep, that's right. I suppose it's fair enough that folk get a bit o.t.t. when passions are raised, but for guys in their positions it was very naive. Glad to hear it's been addressed though - better late than never. And it should give me half a page of p**s take for the next Tigers fanzine...

Not trying to cause trouble here but find it interesting that it is felt that there is the need for a petition for a development that some of your fans felt had very little obstacles in its way if any.

I could fully understand why it was necessary for NM, but does this move suggest that not everything is going to be as plain sailing as certain Cas fans had thought?

I think you might be over-analysing. What's wrong with awareness being raised and the public expressing support for the proposed scheme in advance of a planning application being submitted?

Patient implies time......and I purposely didn't mention timescales in my post, as 20+ years on from the first talks of new stadiums it's pointless. However I will now, as the relevant factors being how much we are going to be paid, and when it is going to be paid.

As I have personnaly put it to RW before, if the funding is not 'irrevocably' in place by the end of Jan 2012, we will not be in the new stadium for the start of 2013. Hence be careful in making a statement that says we will. With a 50+ wk build plan (if it goes smoothly) its just stating the obvious.

So....does anyone think that all planning issues will be overcome and money will start to move and change hands before this year is out?
