Two things strike me about this post:

I care because I would hate them not to get a ground as well as us, I would hate it to be the end of Wakefield trinity because i kinda enjoy the intense rivalry on derby day, I would hate it if it all goes tits up for them and they come begging to share GH. simple
I have no fears about our ground, i believe we are as good as in it

| My suspicion is that has nothing whatsoever to do with Newmarket.
Clearly Yorkcourt are for some reason challenging Wakefield Council in the Administrative Court over something, but looking at what the Administrative Court hears and rules on (and of course the clue is in the title of the Court) it is likely to be some sort of challenge over some administrative legal decision Wakefield have made that Yorkcourt are challenging them over.
Given that Yorkcourt own lots of land and property in the Wakefield district it could be anything and also it is probably just a routine legal issue. What I mean by that is that Wakefield may have taken a decision that Yorkscourt want to challenge and they only way to do that from a legal perspective is to go through the courts.
Given the recent headlines over the new West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Control Centre, which is built on a Yorkcourt owned development site, it might something to do with that?

Yorkcourt must really be in the Council's "Good Books" then if they are taking them through the Courts ![Rolling Eyes icon_rolleyes.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_rolleyes.gif)

| That is very good news and indeed the sale of Wheldon Road as a very good development opportunity site can now take place. Is someone already interested in the site?
In some ways it is shame you can't afford to wait until more is know about the development of the former Hickson site, it could well drive up the price of the Wheldon Road land in the longer term leading to a better sale value in maybe 12 to 24 months. Still that is a nice little chunk of money if they can sell quickly. With planning permission not being an issue it is just a case of the club raising the shortfall between the sale money and the collateral value of the Wakefield MDC land, through any means possible to get Glasshoughton under-way.

Well hang on one minute, let me tell you something....
I only call it as I see it and it is good news! I fully support Glasshougton and hope it can be pulled off as soon as possible and make the RFL eat it's words when it comes to kicking anyone out of Super League. I love coming to Cas (I always stand near that mad bloke in the main standing stand down the touch-line... what is his name, he is quite famous for being super myopic, making his fellow Cas fans cringe) and have had some great times at Wheldon Road. However when it comes to construction and planning permission arguments I'm your man, but raising money... well you need someone better than me!
As I have said, the reason I am involved in the Newmarket Development is because I live in Stanley, close to the development, it does not make me anti-Castleford (for a Whino) and Glasshougton.

| An option for The Jungle has already been sold.
And as for the development, I think it's going to be a mixture of housing and regenerative sites on the Hicksons site. Plenty of information around on the WMDC website.

I suspected it might have been, is the offer subject to planning being granted? Not that, that should be an issue given the area so, if so, it is as good as a done deal.
I was just thinking that the clean-up and site re-mediation works on the Hickson site could take quite a few years, had this been further down the line the sale price of Wheldon Road could have been relative better if a good quality development had already been going up over the river.

| How i understood it all, and i'm no expert, is that the recent problems with Hicksons was that it has been used to [istore[/i chemicals as opposed to producing them. Maybe someone like Delboy could tell us more on that one since knows a thing or two about that place iirc. I think the old issue with Hicksons and the surrounding areas was the blast zone etc and the production of chemicals where more recently it's been storage of chemicals. The license has now expired and they are not getting a new one, so no more storage of chemicals and so the place isn't so much a danger any more. The Hicksons site itself would obviously have lots of work on it to clean it up but this wouldn't stop the surrounding areas in any way from developing, it would just mean the Hickson site will be a little behind everything else.
So for us, basically that means we can sell our ground and the developers can get on doing whatever it is they want to do with Wheldon road.
That's how i've understood what little i have read on it all.

If the deal is subject to planning, while I suspect the chances of any reasonable application being turned down for the site are low to non-existent, it would be the delay in getting hold of the cash that would worry me in relation to Glasshoughton! Maybe the fact that it is unlikely not to get planning for development might mean the purchaser/developer would be happy to buy before planning?
