Ben Black could play SL, how effectively i dont know but from what i saw yesterday id say he'd be no worse than some SH, and id say would be a better option for bradford than Deacon as hes way past his sell by date....

I thought Ben Black was absolute class tonight. I think he could easily make the step up to SL. Beswick was great too, he always caused us problems when we had our battles with Widnes the other year. Penky was great too. I think all of these could play SL, and hopefully they will do so with Fax in the not too distant future.

It was a one off game, all the fax team played really well and came up short in a game they should have won! end of.

why we won? and if not for our lacklustre goal kicking it wouldn't have been so close.

We know that, it was our cup final and we had nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I started this thread as a genuine question to the Cas fans as to which fax players they thought could play SL after yesterdays performance and it's turned into a bit of a slanging match from both sides!! Some Cas fans are being just as obnoxious as the Fax fans!

Most player from your league can play S League and most at some point in there carrier have but and it is a big but it is doing it on a weakley basis and thats where get found out after 4 or 5 matchs.Look at Ryan Clayton for us he a fantastic year in NL1 but now he is Super league he can only do it in one off perfomances and strggles most other time.

Why do most topics on this forum end up in slagging contests among fans??



I've got a new found respect for Halifax, fans and squad.

They took us to the wire tonight, and even for the most part outplayed us.

Injurys aint an excuse for us cos Fax are in a similar boat.

And on the original topic, i think Black and Penki were class.

Cup games are a one off and the underdog always raises it's game, as did fax yesterday.
Thought you played superbly and was the far better team.
Though we did score 7-5 tries and with our kicks the game would have been won in the 80 mins.

Yeah we won, but we beat a lower league club by 1 point! I don't think thats a victory to be proud. How can TM talk of winning this when we struggle to beat a team of part timers?

After this and the last few performancesI really don't think our team has any balls. I fear what the result might be on friday I really do. Our players should be ashamed.

Not that I am taking anything away from Fax, well done lads and I hope our next meeting will be in SL.

Due to TM's dumb team selection policy, this guy was wasted. The hooking role is not like it used to be and you can stick anyone at acting half back (not taking away the fact that that there are good players who play this role very well, but he isn't one of them). But WHY bottle him up there? when we know what he can do in open play. Sherwin looks lost without anyone beside him and this showed with some of the crazy passes he gave during the 2nd half.

2 things hit home after that game.

1) What would we be without McGoldrick?
2) At least half a dozen of our players would not get into another Super League side and even the Halifax team come to mention it!!!

Black had his hand up in 2nd half a few times as he was at fault for some Cas scores. Its not all about what you can do with ball in hand

You've seen us play this year??? Id hardly say we "raised" our game, we played well, but trust me, as you can probably do, we can play a hell of a lot better than we did yesterday.

That said, WHAT A GAME!!! Im proud to be a Fax fan today.

We were saying the same when we only just lost to Bradford in the '07 Challenge Cup. We were in NL1 and we lost 24-16 and then the next year when we were in SL, we got hammered by them. Teams raise their game for one match when they've got nothing to lose.
