| It's the one called "stadium development and groundsheet thread" about six down.
Coming by train as well, if Wakey ever do build Newmarket, it just means I won't be going to derbies at their place

| To clarify:
Wakefield have no outline planning permission but have submitted it and awaiting to hear back regarding that in September, according to their forum. They are building on greenland and there are issues regarding whether it will actually get through in time and also whether it will be built in time for the licensing.
The current position of Cas is that we have Outline Planning Permission which expires in November although Full PP should be submitted before then. Full stadium designs are expected to be shown before the Leeds game, as announced in our most recent statement.

| Didn't take long for the stadium alarm go off for the trolls
Just wait a couple of weeks until the Cas plans are available to the world, probably ~month and a half from applying for full planning permission.

I can't believe no ones picked up on this. So I suppose I'd better.
It's one way for Wakey to guarantee a franchise building there.

| Quote ="St Andy's Land"Can any Cas fan or club official please clarify the present situation regarding the stadium(s) situation? Living far outside the heartlands, the only information I can get is from Ceefax and Sky Sports Teletxt; other than websites. Castleford and Wakefield statements appear to contradict each other. They cannot both be correct. I know nothing about the Newmarket site, but I do know that there is (or will be) a railway station and an existing complex at Glasshaughton, which is close to the motorway. As I travel to Castlefoed by train, that sounds good, but what is the situation at Newmarket? Hope someone can clarify the situation. Thanks in advance.'"
York Court properties are expecting to receive outline planning permission within the next 2 months, regarding the new stadium development. Wakefield Trinity are to be anchor tenants. This will be followed by full planning permission. Construction is expected to start within the year. The facilities will included state of the art training facilities that will be open to all the public in what will be the ultimate community project. Been community based project it's been made clear that all the district teams are welcome to use these facilities.
Castleford, despite having outline planning permission for the last 3 years have failed to secure the relevant funding. Castleford's head man Dickie Wright is a little miffed as to why private companies won't invest into a scheme that will provide them with nothing in return. Recent attempts to get Wakefield on board only go to highlight the desperate situation the Tigers find themselves in regarding funding. In any of his recent statements Dickie Wright has failed to address the funding issue.

Don't think there's a chance of Wakefield getting planning permission in 2 months, don't forget Leeds City Council are against the plans, also not sure how you will get permission for building unwanted warehousing on greenbelt land (there's lot's of empty warehousing in the area).

Don't claim to know all the details, but surely the fact that the warehousing would be concentrated in one place just off the motorway is better than having loads of different units spread here there and everywhere.
This would be particularly important for someone who requires large distribution space (they won't want to have separate locations in the same area).
Yorkcourt have obviously done their homework on both the planning issues and the requirement for the units. They and whoever is providing them with the funding for the wider development would expect to see some evidence that there are prospective purchasers for units on the site before willing to commit what would be a very large sum to the project.
As has been said before, NM will go ahead at some stage (I'm sure Yorkcourt are willing if necessary to wait until the land is reclassified in the next couple of years), its just a question of whether there will be a stadium there if the planning is not approved this time around.

This been the telling factor that many on here seem to shut out. The community based nature of the sporting facilities that will benefit the whole district and cost council tax payers next to nothing. Regarding the warehousing units as I understand, a certain multi national company is all ready to relocate into purpose built units at Newmarket. This will bring much needed new jobs into the area. The scheme is so attractive It can't possibly be turned down.
Whats better for greater good of the community and the tax payer will always be the telling factor in this project.

not biased dh, just being realistic.
I don't have a problem with Wakefield building a stadium which is almost in Leeds, but I think LCC have a problem with greenbelt land being used for warehousing that's not needed and the whole scheme as a commercial proposition, appears to rest upon the warehousing and York Properties trying to get around building on greenbelt land through the back door.
I do hope you get a new stadium, as I don't wish to see the end of our derbies, rugby league needs such local rivalry (if only they would realise it), but I do feel the proposed development isn't the way you will get a new stadium.
