We went as a group of paying customers (i struggle to get the full value of the season ticket so just go to the games i can make).

We were ushered around to the training ground entrance at 2.55pm. The queue for the 4 turnstiles was way back to the entrance on wheldon road. Took us 30mins to get from there to the front of the queue. Of the 4 turnstiles around there, 2 were ticket, one was juniors/concessions only and the other paying adults.

One of our friends who had a ticket was told he could not go through the junior turnstile with his 10yr old son as he was paying for him. The 10yr old kid had to queue alone and wait on the opposite side (outside) of the ground for a further ten minutes to us as people were complaining to the till person they hadn't been given the correct change (from the back door).

Entry to the turnstiles was all flooded and sand we had to jump over sandbags to gain entry. I understand the weather was bad but 2 sandbags ?! It also wouldn't have been hard for Cas to have swept the flooded water out of the way before the game. I understand it would have filled back up but not for a good few hours until the rain started pouring down at half time.

We wanted drinks and the toilet at half time but the toilets on princess street were out of order. I mean come on Cas, it's the first game of the season??! The nearest bar was the complete opposite side of the ground?! £20 extra revenue lost there Cas.

Sky were an utter disgrace on Full Time trying to get Chase banned just because McDemott opened his trap.

We bought tickets thinking we'd get in a bit quicker, it didn't quite work like that. The queue on Wheldon Road was a mile long so we took a chance and went round the back of the main stand. The turnstiles were choc a bloc where we were instructed to go, so as a last resort went to a members only turnstile with a couple of people queueing. We gained entry while the hordes of other unfortunates carried on queueing at the other set of turnstiles. As for the womens toilets, well let's just say the missus wasn't right impressed. If the toilets don't flush and the taps have no running water when the club has had all close season to fix them I hate to say it but can Cas really be considered a club that's really pulling out all the stops for a future Superleague licence. There's a lot that Cas have no influence on when it comes to the licensing, but basic toilet facilities are something that's a pre requisite. Very lazy and a kick in the teeth for fans of both clubs that deserve better when they've shelled out to support their teams on a foul day. Well done on the result, we've had enough to crow about in recent years and it will give your club and fans a lift in these gloomy times.

I agree, the toilets at WR - both genders - are bad, bad, bad. However the repair work necessary to improve them doesn't just require an offseason of time, it needs money too. The state of some aspects of WR is of grave concern to everyone, including the club, but you have to factor in that we need to compete against other clubs with larger catchments, bigger and better facilities and let's not forget, wealthy benefactors.

Ironically, the ground is so rubbish (at least in part) because of the Framing the Future dictat. In the past Cas have failed to invest in WR, with all monies and efforts focused - out of fear of non compliance - on moving to a new ground at Glasshoughton. However according to our new CEO that dream is fading fast and the decision has already been made to try and refocus on what we already have. But without the things that other clubs enjoy - sympathetic councils, millionaire backers, reckless abandon when it comes to balancing the books - the improvements Cas make will have to come slowly, and the priority the club gives to them might not always agree with our/your own.

Cas' current financial tightrope walk is very well documented, hence the big drive for memberships this season. Maybe if we had a County Cricket Club and a Yawnion team to share maintenance costs with WR might look a lot better than it does, but those are just the breaks I guess. All I'd say is bear with us, and you could do worse than bringing some disposable hand wipes with you...
