| To be honest, I know we pulled off a scrappy win but I feel we played poor in attack. First half we couldn't get going at all and second half we bombed so many chances.
But it just shows how much of a different team we are. Playing poor and still beating a play off team. If this was the old Tigers we would of slacked off late. It's great to not play amazing and still pick up a win and comfortably in the end. Still players to come back from injury and we are sitting very nicely.
By the way our defence in the second half was great again. We have now stopped Hudds from scoring in 40mins and Hull KR from scoring in final 40mins. Great defence. Just gotta cut out silly penalties giving away field position.
Rangi's kicking to touch on penalties was amazing, making a good 40yards, something we have missed in recent years.
The young lads pulled it out again. Oggy scoring first and also Clark playing amazing. Can Hudson get his spot back?
Overall then for me I thought first half we were poor but only went in 2 behind. Second half much better but should of scored more and need to take chances as we had many today.
Good performance by the boys and we didn't even play the best we can.

| Agree with most of that.
I'm so used to seeing Cas just crumble under pressure in the last 10/15 minutes, that even if we build up a 12 point buffer I'm just expecting the opposition to come back and steal it. It's not easy on your nerves being a Cas fan.

| Agree 1st half HKR played us off the park, Second we stepped up a gear and fell off a cliff.
Just have this little niggle in me that when Hudson and Goldy are fit they will come in and upset the balance, But for at least another week im gonna sit in me little happy tiger bubble and smile.
In summary this weekend has been ace
1 Leeds united win
2 England cricket somehow steal a win
3 Man Utd lose to a poor scouse outfit
4 Cas TOP of the table with a game in hand
Life can be so nice at times

Silver medal at the European Indoor Champs for a former Cas reserve too!
Did anyone else notice the fact that we SCORED tries a few minutes either side of half-time today. Always a killer for the opposition... as we know from years of being on the receiving end.

| Thought everyone played there part in the win today minus Walker for obvious reasons. Special praise imo must go to Jones who i thought was excellent throughout. Also thought Widders was good (charging to collect the Huby drop out was excellent!) and also Huby was immense, as has been discussed in the other thread. We have improved so much from last season. Imo we would have lost that game in the final 10-15 but there seems such a belief in the team and it's great to see. Long may it continue.

Totally agree with the Jones comment, i think he has really struggled towards the back end of last season and the start of this one, but yesterday he was immense, especially in defence, and would have been my man of the match.

| Happy with the result yesterday. However, by the end of the game I was spitting feathers at the amount of times we dropped the ball whilst trying to get over the line. Not good for the blood pressure!!
The players need to keep building on the wins, gain a little more confidence and be a little more decisive about the plays they do.....and don't make. There were separate occasions where Arundel, Chase and Ferres all could have gone over the line. However, by the time they had actually decided to go for it, the window of opportunity had gone, as had the opportunity to play to a man on the outside who could also have gone over. The confidence will come with game time, and we are off to a great start.
Roll on the Catalan game on Saturday!!

Doing this in the second half won us the game. That second 40-minutes was a very dominant performance by Cas, against a team who are not easy to dominate; and whilst chances were bombed, how many games like that did we play in last season where we simply couldn't create the chances in the first place?

I thought that the turning point in the game was just before half time when we kept KR out for 4 consecutive sets and broke away for Youngquest to score. Any other season we would have had our goal line defence broken and been at least 14 points behind, this gave us the impetus for the rest of the match. We do however need a centre that is going to get the ball to the winger, surely it's time to give Isa a run and put Ferres back where he belongs, at loose forward. I agree the forwards were immense and special praise should go to Emmet and Jackson for the work they got through.

| I would definitely get Ferres back in the forwards. He looked a little lost with ball in hand and knocked on a few times. However his defence is great. I would put Isa at Centre and probably start Ferres off Bench to cover back row and centres. He is great for playing in many positions.
One of my points also is about Hudson. Would anyone drop Clark or Milner to bring him back?

Whilst that was a turning point, and rather a fortunate one, we couldn't have won the game without completely overhauling our discipline at the break. I'm also not sure how Ferres is supposed to get the ball to his winger, when his winger fails (on several occasions) to come inside for the inside pass.

Not at the moment but Clark is only 17 so unlikely to play every week of a 27 game season so there'll be a return for Ryan somewhere along the line. It may even be back in the back row at first.

IIRC, he was originally signed to replace Vowles at loose forward.

| I actually would drop Clark. "Drop" being the wrong choice of words of course. I'd bring back Hudson if he's 100% for the game against Catalan. Hooker is a tough position (you would hardly believe it way Adam and Daryl are playing) and Catalans are a very tough, aggressive side. I'm not saying they are dirty by the way. Hudson will get through lots of work but of course will not offer us that little spark in attack Clark does. But he's experienced and will relish the physical battle of Cat's.
There's no rush with the kids. Not playing Clark now will not hinder his progress one bit but playing him too much could.

| The good thing about using Clark against Catalans is that they have a very big pack. If we can put out a full compliment of forwards and bash them up the middle and tire them out, Clark can come and take advantage of slow defence to get some penalties for us.
