I half-expected someone to lay into Millward given the antipathetic comments towards him on the forum but no, nothing. Like I said, no surprise. People can only have a go through internet but not through events put on.

So you'd have preferred someone to lay into him?

Laying into might not be quite the right expression, but given the current state of our game giving him a good grilling wouldn't be out of order.

It would be nice to have heard some explanation as to why we've been so utterly dire this season to be honest.

To paraphrase a little, he said he's "as frustrated as we are". He said the defensive drills are going well but not translating onto the park for game day. I don't recall if he offered anything like a "..and here's what we're going to do about it", other than looking at recruitment for next season.

On that, he was asked if up to twelve changes in one off season could be good for the team, to which he replied: "Well do YOU think this team's good enough to keep?". Speaks volumes to me about expectations this year...

However, he did still intimate that the target remains to make the eight this year, but he put a worrying emphasis on winning the next three in order to stay on course. Bulls, Reds and Rhinos... hmmm!!
