A new treatment room + equipment

New locker rooms

New offices

A chill out area for the players

A new briefing room with video facility

Press facilities with internet access

A new trophy room

Dressing rooms refurbished

And, of course, those new seats.

Still very extravagent to give that as a gift to a council owned property. Maybe he is getting a little Des on you....especialy with his outburst earlier this week. Next he will be trying to coach your team!! having said that...he probably could do a better job than Cullen.

No it's not extravagant. It is a direct investment in the clubs’ future. These new facilities will stand the club in good stead for years to come, and puts us way ahead of most clubs – including many in SL.

Newest? The seats might be new but I doubt there's that much new about that stand.

As for the Fax v Widnes licence debate, I would actually agree with Fax fans casting a doubt on the long term future of the youngsters that are currently in the Widnes squad, but at the end of day the whole licence process is all about posturing and whos' got the biggest winkle. SO'C can say Widnes have the biggest support outside SL, internationally recognised sponsors, great ground, 8 homegrown youngsters in the 1st team. Our u18's have been competing against SL sides week in week out for the last x number of years. We now have the financial clout to compete in SL and I have a feeling that when the next round of accounts are produced, they will look impressive. We can also say that we will expand the game both locally into Runcorn and a bit further afield by marketing to the West (Merseyside) as well as to the South, where apart from the new Wrexham club, there is virtually no RL clubs until you hit Harlequins.

Apart from being able to compete at Championship level (without actually winning anything so far), is there anything Fax can say or do to trump any of that?

Now is it an investment or a gift? Make your mind up.

Internationally recongnised sponsors? Halton Solicitors? SOC? Stobarts? that wont have any baring on SL. When was the last game you played in the league with 8 home grown youngsters?

And as for the rest - your going to expand the game to Runcorn? Well thats you nailed on then..i have always had a feeling RL would do well there...Merseyside? Im sure Saints might want to do that..and are in a better position to do so....and the south? ok...you have the rest of the south of england to develop. Good luck with that.

Exactly -but when it comes to the application, how are Halifax going to pursuade the RFL that they will be a worthy addition to SL? I mean, probably the most important year before the licence applications go in and Fax go all quiet on youth development and sign a few over the hill players - no real way of dressing it up and making it sound good is there?

Are Fax really basing their whole licence application on building the best possible 1st team squad and hoping for the best?

The man has put his own money, in the form of a gift, into improving the infastructure of the club. That is an investment in the club, and doesn't mean he wants a return on that investment. Perhaps the word [i'investment'[/i is confusing you?

Not at all - the club have stated that they are starting up the youth development again this year - infact the scholarship sides are up and running.

If the club doesnt have u20's or u18's by the time the licences are awarded then you can come back and say that you told me so...

All arguments aside, this sentence would have been a ridiculous statement to make 20 years ago. How this "sport" has changed. Quite sad really.

Back to that statement though - there is no competition for that available spot in 2012. Everyone knows it's Widnes - because they are more ready than anyone else.
