Well if Widnes are a shoe in (and i expect them to be) we might be in the running despite our failings on and off the pitch this season. We can only dream!

I dont understand how widnes can be a option for super league did they not go bust in the last two years.
And if the mighty dogs beat them on sunday then this season will be a complete failure for them.

Widnes - NRC winners last year Good Ground, big money backer now but went bust before
Barrow - won GF last year big money backer but no ground
Toulouse - dont think they will put another french team in yet as catalans really struggling at moment
Featherstone - No ground and no backer and not won anything yet
Leigh - Good stadium but dont think they have a backer also so far have not ticked the box of winning something
Halifax - Grand final last year, ground but no backer and SL dont like us

Even withouth grounds, these clubs are still ticking more boxes than us, sad but true, I think Widnes have got it right, they are planning for the future. Salford will stay in, I think we need to get our juniors up and running and aim for the next round after this, with a young side full of local lads. Its got to be the future for us, our only chance and something we should always have been doing. Wakey and Cas are desperate, i would imagine they are playing a cute mind game with this. But it clearly shows a weakness, and abject lack of respect, planning and muscle. They both appear to have carried on as normal since the last round.

Im sure some berks at their clubs can come up with how they have done allsorts because of the franchise, but in truth it hasnt been a catalyst like the RFL said it would be, i.e. blooding juniors, building projects.

When we talk about poor grounds why is odsal never mentioned. There is only one covered stand and it still I think has the elivated corners because of the speedway track and its allways freezing cold. There has been talk of sorting it for the last 40 years or more

IMO this is good for one of the Championship teams as didnt Wakey council say they could only back one bid, so means either Cas or Wakey are 'd!

I'd kick Salford, Wakey and Cas out and set the mother of all precedents. Dumping Saints would be pushing it but at least with those three sacrificial lambs there'd be no doubting was is required. Shiny plans and hardhats not welcome here

Correct me if im wrong but as i understood it the stadia had to be in place for the next licences and Cas, Wakey, Salford and Saints are nowhere near but Widnes, Fax and Leigh are, although Leigh have not yet ticked the box.

But it's not the only factor is it? That's the beauty of the license system. "Criteira Points" can be played with and manipultaed all day long by the RFL. What's the betting that "yoof" will be assigned to Halifax as the silver bullet.

The stadium is worth up to 4 points though isn't it with capacity, premier facilities etc? FaxLad66 rightly points out that the RFL have said the ground have to physically be there come February (or whenever the license hand in date is) or it won't count. Saints are pretty much sorted and have it covered by the sounds of it, they can knock up a stadium by end of the year now they have permission and a place to play next season. Salford sound to almost be at that stage but both Wakey and Cas appear to be no where near it and have 8-9 months to do every bit of ground work and get it up.
We'll get done for no youth system, but that's still only 1 point. Stadium wise surely Cas and Wakey have to catch us up by 2-3 points?

You'd like to think that's how it works anyway. We all know it won't. But if Cas and Wakey aren't in a new stadium each or shared come February, and Widnes come 7th this year and all 3 are in, how e is that going to make the sport look? Nevermind whether Fax are in it or not. It just looks tinpot. (p.s. Obvioulsy i think Widnes should 100% be in SL but from the outside in, people would wonder why 7th place in a league below is promoted above the others which is bizarre in terms of sport, i'm sure Widnes fans agree with that.)

Spot on mate, but will the RFL care? Not a jot as it is a closed shop and THEY decide what they want, you dare question that decision and they will make you pay. Its a bit like communism, do as we say not as we do!

Thing for Cas and Wakey is where is the cash coming from to do their propsed stadiums? Public money is being cut, people are going to lose their jobs so how are they going to pay for a sports stadium???
