| Quote ="faxcar"Letting people know how much next seasons ticket prices are going to be as early as possible and the best ways of how to make savings and keeping those options open for as long as possible seems like a positive thing to me.
I for one can now decide whether to buy season tickets and pay hundreds in advance but make the savings or spread the cost, pay more on the day and the latter option will turn out not to be a cash grab.'"
Yeah I'd agree with that and maybe its just bad timing with the other stuff. Obviously over a 15% rise on prices at the gate should not be underestimated and its a great idea for the club to let people spread the cost so in that sense getting the offer out early could be a good idea and they may get a decent uptake on the offer. Im not naive enough to not be able to see both sides.

| I guess time will tell what durgans role is but I don’t see a connection between his resignation and the season ticket offer .

| At least "for now" he hasn't just walked out and from what RD has said he's going to stay in the same role ( and no doubt be a bit wiser than say 12 months ago) and honour his financial promises / commitments.
The details of these commitments will have been promised first of all to the other board members leading up to and at the time of the takeover and for how long that would be.
If it is heading towards him taking a lesser role or even leaving completely at some future time then you would have thought behind closed doors that will have been discussed and at least the club can make plans accordingly.
Every club has to try and plan in advance and an important factor is of course knowing your finances and it's there where the connection is with the season tickets.
Can't see much changing from the previous, in that before the start of the new season the club should know how much income there is from central funding (if any) how much from season tickets and how much from within themselves.
To me admission prices are a lot of money even before the rise and it's both a contentious and difficult decision to have to make.
It will be interesting to see the stats for attendances / accounts for Batley this year with the tenner on the day entry fee and how that has worked out this season as compared to last year.

| If i remember right didn't durgan say when announcing Finn as the new coach that there would be some changes off field to help Finn and these would be announced shortly. While this could mean a couple of different scenarios it could also be someone else coming in to replace Richard as one of the directors and dealing with the recruitement side of things.

Yes he definitely said that , it wouldn’t surprise me if there was some changes in that department.

The great flaw in that argument is that you HAVE TO PAY rent/mortgages, gas, electric and yes even lurpak (lol) but going to a rugger match is optional. It's tuff dragging fringe fans through the gate as it is but now it'll cost £44 for a couple for a day at the Shay, 50 quid if you want to plonk your backside down. Hey I know that depresses yer but hey ho I'd say "you're having a laugh". Notice that Keighley have had decent crowds charging £15, a big difference .... the same couple would have change to buy some pints in spoons. Just saying as I see it ..... DOOM DOOM but look I ain't a misery - see:

The club also HAVE TO PAY rent and overheads.
Going back a number of years every BoD have been acutely aware of how tough it is the get fans through the gates and the main thing that does is a successful team.
Is there any evidence that reducing admission prices increases the crowds to a level that maintains or increases that particular income stream and helps in producing a winning team?
Not even sure there is a solution with everything the general public have to consider either through necessity if your skint or the amount of other things there are to choose to spend your money on if you have some.
Seeing you mention Keighley, how have they performed this year and didn’t they have to release a few players because they couldn’t afford to keep them?
As before I agree the admission prices seem steep to me but they seem to be upsetting and depressing you more than ListenUp.

The great flaw in your argument is that you look at everything subjectively, the rent , electricity, water , and general cost of living has risen significantly in the past few years along with wages including player wages , these costs have to be calculated and covered, if they weren’t I’m pretty sure you and your twin would be on it faster than a negative comment after a loss . I’m pretty sure if we were in the same league position as keighley you would be crying like you were a few hours ago so using them as an example is laughable.

Not a big fan of anti depressants tbh , I prefer natural remedies to fluctuating levels of dopamine and serotonin. Your erratic responses tell me you’re not quite capable of managing these areas in your life , I recommend some cognitive behavioural therapy sessions. You can talk to me tony .

Gets asked a perfectly reasonable question about evidence that lowering admission prices increases crowds and maintains income streams and how it has worked out this season for Keighley the team you quoted as the model to follow and answers as above
Who’s talking tripe?
Anyway I thought you were ignoring my posts, you’ve been taking a look haven’t you.

Earlier this week I booked 2 tickets In the stalls for a 2 hour show at the Vicky theatre in town and it cost £63.50 and a extra £1.50 Per ticket for insurance.
£66.50 for a couple of hours entertainment and not a rugby ball in sight.

| Another reason for staying away is some people are simply not interested in particular sports including rugby league.
Nothing against FC Town and having played at county level myself, these days I have little interest in football and if I got an offer to watch them for a full season for free I wouldn’t be going.

The older I get the less interest I have in sports, feels different now , rugby league is probably my last roll of the dice it represents the working class which football no longer does . No affinity is no infinite support.

Unfortunatley that is the reality facing a lot of our fans next season, besides finding a wealthy backer to subsidise that I am not sure what the answer is. Ive been to less games this season than I have been to in probably the last 30 years or so, not just down to the quality but its the first time in a while where given the choice I would start to pick and choose my games. Pretty much all the people I used to go with has dwindled to the last few due to money constraints and its far cheaper to have a catch up in a pub over a beer than it is to have a catch up at the game especially when there really isn't an atmosphere at most games and you can watch them for free on YT a couple of days later. Add in to that the kids getting older which adds to the costs on match day and its just getting a more and more unrealistic option for families.
God knows what the answer is because I think we can all see realistically the way that rugby league at this level is headed at the moment.

It’s across the board this inflation issue.
Up in the Lakes one of the main super markets is the Booths chain and on our way back from wandering with daffs and clouds the other week we called in for a few bits, in front of us was a lady with a good largish shop of just every day items and it came to £176
£176 and change for a decent size weeks worth of food and grocery items.
We’d bought some razor blades and they were almost a tenner so me being me said to the wife “I think we should put them back as I don’t mind you having hairy legs and a moustache” to which she replied “I think we should and get a old razor instead so she could cut my throat.”

Only a massive "re-boot" imo. As I said earlier, in the past 30 years admission has increased at a far faster rate than wages to the stage where it's now an expensive day out compared to it being the equivalent to a couple of pints. Only a BIG admission drop would get new fans which of course means a big down scaling of players' wages, etc but that would require a multi-lateral effort across the whole of RL which unfortunately is unlikely.
I buy a season ticket so don't feel the match day hit money-wise, as it's just an "invisible" annual plastic purchase (if yer get me drift) but it hurts when I open the wallet for a cup game ....... wouldn't wanna be doing that on a regular basis for league games. And it shows at all other clubs with very low cup crowds .... I remember the Cas - Hull cup match when the Cas shed was virtually empty.

Agree with some of this, a big admission drop would certainly help keep the faithful coming and at least wouldn't put new ones off from joining them but it would still mean they had to be first of all interested in the sport ( which many aren't ) and make the games interesting and competitive, ( again which many aren't. )
It's a bit like having all the tv channels that are now included free with Sky, Free View and Free Sat etc, how many do we watch that we aren't interested in or find boring? Is it only me that ends up watching country file or turning it off.
It would have to be done across the board for it to be truly effective ( but that's not going to happen ) even though there's sound financial reasoning to do so.
Using Super League as an example despite all the money that has been pumped in can we really see much improvement either in quality of playing standards and quantity of the number of top class players?
I can't, you just have the same teams ( with Leigh being the one and only exception, for now ) and the same standard of players rotating between one another but the difference is there getting paid a hell of a lot more to doing so.
If there is an answer it's beyond me so it's off to Keighley this aft and trying to decide on ST's or POTD.
