Some people have really got their knickers in a twist about this havnt they. All he has stated is just about what every clued up fan already knows. To say we have as much chance as anyone else is just naive. You really think we start on a level playing field with someone like Crusaders. Realistically they are the team whos place we will be threatening. Still think we have a chance?

I dont think we have a chance, but its the manner in which he did this which is in question. If there was a debate going on about superleague applications and his opinion was debated by all in the studio it would have been understandable, howeve this was not the case it was talking about Brian Noble and Eddie just threw in the comment "dont forget that Halifax are still in the mix for Superleague come July" and Carney sticks foot well and truly into gob and says "No, No, No they are not, I am ruling them out completely". This took Eddie by surprise, but no further debate was forthcoming.

He probably doesn't like ' toeing the party line ' and discussing something like ' franchise applications ' isn't where he is at , its got bugger all to do with RL , he also probably sees it for what it is , just Fax being used to give a proccess some strange sort of credibility

Not moaning, is better to be positive and your in with a half decent chance IMO, unlikely, but we don't know what's going on behind the scenes at RFL or any bidding clubs!

Maybe he should be asked to explain his comments. Im not reading that as he is slagging the club off. Maybe he is saying that as though he knows its a closed shop when it shouldnt be.

Its not so much that hes insulted the club, but when people have worked really hard over the last 3 years putting are bid together why does he feel like he has to reapeatedly say tht we have no chance of getting a franchise in july?? Its an insult to the people who have all that time putting the bid together isn't it??

You've spent years listening to Eddie and Stevo talking crap, do you really think any of them would think any different.
And to be honest, even though we know what a charade it is, we have now seen where the benchmark is, its up to us now to increase our crowds and develop a better youth system, and thats all we can do while the game is a slave to Red Hall idiots and Sky marketing.

Not really , everybody can see that those clubs have problems , the RFL may try to ' gloss over ' them , but everybody still knows

And what happens elsewhere doesn't and shouldn't affect what you need your club to achieve , a strong support base turning up every week could not be ignored , simple as

Starbug, You really get on my nerves pal coming on here and every thread that mentions OUR SL application you like to say " do you seriously think they take any real notice of your licence application " or they are just doing this so that the RFL look to be taking it seriously but you have no chance etc.

Do you think you will be any different in 3 years time ?. I don't, The fact is our club has worked very hard for the last 3 years to get to the point of where we are. Then you spout that crap at every oppurtunity all becuase so far your team are doing well.

But it is open to corruption

Just as your team have been fantastic for the last 2 seasons , but unfortunatly it means diddly squat as far as SL is concerned , Leigh and Fax are essentially at very similar levels , the one thing that put Widnes above us all is the extra 1,500 fans they have turning up on a match day , until either of us can match that , we aren't going anywhere , and to tell the truth would you really want to ? , remember what happened last time , if you hadn't been regegated in 2003 , how would you have done in 2004 in SL ?

How the hell anyone knows how we would have done if we were still there in 2004, As history shows teams can go from the bottom up the ladder very quickly, Relegated one season, Saved by a team going bust and then turning the corner from that point !! Sound familiar ??.

So if we dont get in, in three years time if we are still in the same situation then it would be us would it not ?. Missed out last time, in the next time ?. I wouldn't worry as i feel its going to be 16 teams in SL next year.

Familiar yes , relevant no , we won 9 out of 20 games in 2009 , our crowds were still within a couple of hundred of all the others apart from Widnes , my point about yourselves was if you hadn't dropped down , you most likely would have continued to struggle in 2004 , franchising only works if you have all strong clubs , any weakness and there is no safety valve to save you

And that benifits you in what way ?
