Delighted by last nights result but mostly by the total commitment of all the players from 1 - 17 regardless of our second half missed tackles. Barrow were always going to come strong and the ref made a couple of wrong decisions but we got a few in the first half too. Credit to all the lads and the coaching staff!

Dont have a pop at me, emotions run high. We had a commanding lead of 24 to nil. The second half had started and we let in a pretty soft try only to cancel this off with a try of our own, which I thought was showing pretty good character, only to conceed 18 points in about 5 minutes, which showed pretty slack character. THAT IS WHEN I POSTED.

To be perfectly honest, with the score at half time, we should have denied Barrow a bonus point, but we were lucky to come away with the winning points ourselves, by Barrow handing the ball to us at the very end to gain the win, I also think Barrows first try (that was denied by the video ref) was a certain try as I think Penky took the option to tackle the dummy runner rather than the dummy runner stopping Penky getting to the tackle.

I know things go for and against us and I know that each of the three tries that Barrow scored in the 5 minutes were on the back of pretty dubious penalties given by Ronnie "the big I am" Laughton and I know that forward pass he pulled us back for (sure try by Worrincy) was absolutely no way forward, but Phew we were lucky.

I have been saying for most of last season and all of this season, we really do need to work on our leaky defence.

Anyway a win is a win and before the game we would have taken a 34 - 42 scoreline, so I am a happy chappy.

I think you have to accept by now that this is the way we play. It got us to second in the table and a GF appearance last year and it looks as though it's yielding the same again this year. You can't really expect a team to consistently be the best attacking team AND the best defensive team in the league. It's a trade off. Lethal attack - leaky defence. Strong defence - sluggish attack. It's certainly never boring watching Fax is it?

I never said it was boring. I have watched fax for the last 20 years and I can say that, with the exception of 2003, its never been boring.

Cant be the best attack and defence????? Look at the table.

In all three leagues nobody has scored more than the leaders and nobody has conceeded less than the leaders, which suggests that you can have the best defence and the best attack.

Sorry - i meant solely Halifax or the "Halifax way". It's just not the way we've ever operated it seems, especially over the last three years.

I have to say, in the games where it has worked well, I have gone away thinking WOW, but in the games where it hasnt worked I have gone away thinking "?".

We just have to have fingers crossed that it works for the rest of the season and beyond, as this is the style we seem to play.

Other teams can score 50 against us, as long as we score 51 each game.

What I thought was great was the completion rate and the handling skills in spite of tricky condidtions. Really thought we were going to bomb it but deserved win in my mind. As for Ronnie Rumplestiltskin . . . . . . . Baffoon!!

We looked a decent side last night for most of the game and Barra were always going to come out fired up after Des had been in the dressing room!!

Thought I would pop in and offer my congratulations.

Though Fax were fantastic in the first half, organised, physical and motivated. Totally played us off the park. Would have been a pleasure to watch against anyone but ourselves

what i thought was an improvement from us or maybe just a 1 game thing but maybe could be an improvement.

many a time when we have been winning by a less than 1 score margin we keep throwing the ball around in the same style as we do when were 50 points up.

last night the lads knew at that point that completing a set was important so they stuck it up there jumper and then Penky had the presence of mind to drill the ball down to the corner and the mistake was a bonus

Going back to the game I thought we played pretty well. Any win is a good win up there so that should give the lads plenty of confidence going forward..

The worry for me was that right edge defence when the ball was moved quickly..

Apart from that it was a good nights work!

Well played last night Halifax, you deserved the win just off the 1st half performance alone when Barrow had no answer at all. I thought Laughton was inconsistent to both teams, however he wasnt the one missing all the tackles and showing no passion in the 1st half so no complaints from me. It was a cracking game for the neutral !! I agree the crowd was $hite, but at least they all paid to get in ( no freebies at Barrow, unlike some clubs to boost the attendance! ). Good luck for the rest of the season.

It was a nice surprise as I didn't expect a win, when we play that type of rugby we are hard to live with and it is very pleasing on the eye. But it was typical of us to let Barrow back in it although they speeded up their play the ball second half. Regards Laughton he pinged us twice for offside that gave Barrow good feld position for those two early tries whilst as far as I can remember never doing Barrow once and if you watch him he never looks down the line at all which is why I got annoyed, in tight games it makes a big difference, we got a penalty first half (not for offside though) and we scored from the next set of six.
Not a bad turnout from Fax for a Thursday night, I don't think Barrow have not gone forward as much as they thought on and off the field.

Anyway well done lads lets kick on now keep the momentum going.

A few of the lads were out last night and saying that this is the last season the majority of them will play together and that they are all really up for it and are going to try and make sure they go out with a GF win.

Well from my hotel bar in Magaluf I was very impressed.

The first half was just plain awesome, by far our best performance of the season. It was plainly obvious Barrow were going to come back at us in the second, the introduction of Carlile caused us problems. It is our defence which is worringly weak but it has still improved. A couple of months ago we would have lost that game, the players look to have that steel in their eyes as well as fantastic team spirit as the camera showe dthem running over to our fans.

We never seem to play completely on SKY, we play well but we do something to bitter the taste of the summarisors, hopefully against SKY RL oh sorry Widnes we can shove their doubts and bias down their throats.
