| You lot are a cynical Bunch aren't you . You are just as bad as the "anti
Fax" lot but at the other end of the spectrum.
An ACV buys you time , and stops tony Abbott or whoever owns the ground from selling it to the highest bidder at the first opportunity.
I've accepted the fact that the sale is pretty much a given. And I hope that tony Abbott and Ian croad and their investors build the shay into something great.
I still want to be vigilant though and when they do sell up, then we as sporting fans need to Have something like a ACV , to
Make sure the shay continues to be in the right hands.

| Can't believe they are so precious about something their club has rented for most of their history.
They can't help but reveal their bitterness to Tony Abbott either.
As an aside, the biggest share holder in the Ricoh Arena is - Coventry council!

| Im really not sure why the fans, be that Town or Fax fans, think they should have any say in what goes on in regards to the sale or running of the Shay.
Traditionally in Rugby and Football partnerships there is a weaker side and I can understand why most Town fans feel that as the weaker side their place at the Shay would be in jeopardy if it was sold to a private investor but I feel their worries are totally unfounded.
The worst case scenario would be the case of the ACV where you then have people involved who really have no idea what they are doing.

| Nuneaton towns ground. Which is privately owned(by a company currently in receivership) has an ACV . They are the only
Club playing there and get smaller crowds than we both do.
Please read up on a ACV people, it's a thing to put in motion to help safeguard the stadium in the future.

No, no, no
Say tony Abbott buys the shay. Its alright for a while. We all are happy. Should something happen to reactiv or TA(health, financially) and had to sell. It stops the first bidder who swans along that tony Abbott says yes to.
An ACV buys you time and information, to help formulate plans what ever they maybe. Now I know bubba has applied for the ACV on behalf of the htst, but despite most of your anise towards him. He is still a rugby fan and I know he would engage the rugby supporters trust and the clubs should something happen in the future.

| Im still missing the point why we should have any say. The people in Halifax vote with their feet on match days and only a couple of thousand people seem interested, Im sure there are more important issues in Halifax.
I would imagine the council would be smart enough to insert clauses in to the contracts about the use of the stadium. Its really not rocket science.

Exactly! Most of my mates are Town fans and believe me this IS about Town v Fax. They are just trying to put as many obstacles in the way as possible, delay things as much as possible and hope Tony gets fed up and walks away. The same old half hearted Halifax attitude that has seen The Shay underused and underdeveloped for years.

But if TA walks away and now (thanks to Bubba and his ilk) the ratepayers of Calderdale (who really could not give a fig about the Shay) have now been alerted as to what a drain it is to the Councils coffers ,will be pressurising their Councilors to get shut . Someone said to me yesterday
" they are talking of shuting the Surestart nurseries saying they can`t afford and the Shay is loseing £300,000 a year .I can`t wait for the local elections ."
Plus now the Councilors have got a bee in their bonnets because the Town supporters have been informing them of the fact the council was not recieving the full value of the Shay pushing the price further up will make it even harder for the sale to go ahead ,so what happens then ? No more investment from the Council the place goes back to looking shabby and neglected like it did when the SST ran it .
When all said and done the Town supporters don`t mind a private individual runing their football club (even though he could sell it to anyone or even move them and play elsewhere ) but object to an individual owning the Shay . The Town owner is a man who won`t even invest in the very basic of a Club Shop but they don`t want TA to invest in the Shay , strange one that .
To me it`s just another plan B that will end in tears .

Look Gavin is being just anti private sector and is trying to stall the negotiations which Town fans seem to think is underhand all because it is not in the open to the whole of Calderdale, especially Halifax Town fans and is with a guy who has Halifax RLFC connections. Come on why should it be open to all and sundry? The stadium is Council owned not FC Halifax Town or Halifax RLFC owned so why should they have to share everything which is sensitive financial information on both parties? The system will not allow a public asset to be sold without due diligence and scrutiny by politicians who represent the people of calderdale plus the Council legal department will run through it with a microscope I can assure you!
ACV just protects something from being used for something else which in the Shay's case would be none sport related. Yer that is all well and dandy but the Shay would not be sold off for anything other than a sports ground now anyway, come on Halifax now has enough supermarkets and knocking down the Shay and relocating both clubs would never stack up it would costs millions now that the ground is a decent one plus the land is allocated as open space not for mixed use or employment use (in other words it is allocated as a sports facility).
Where would the money come from for any supporters organisation to take over the Shay and run it as a business? The Shay will not be profitable in its currnet state it needs extra income streams and the biggest thing with Reactiv's bid is they would finish that corner section of the east stand to create offics and create around 100 jobs but hey don't let that fact get in the way Gavin will you???
The biggest thing with any 'deal' to sell the Shay to the private sector is that it must be transferred into the name of a separate stadium company LTD to protect the Shay from the parent company (Reactiv) going bust and a legally binding agreement to ensure the continued use by FC Halifax Town and Halifax RLFC which I believe is what Tony Abbott is proposing.
I am annoyed that some people think that Tony is trying to do this under hand, there is no way the Council would allow that, Tim Swift and the current leadership are sound and the funny thing is they are Labour Councillors who traditionally are not on the side of the private sector, do you really think they would sell the Shay to somebody who does not have the town and clubs at heart and just wants to asset strip the Shay???
Deluded and if this deal falls through I wil come back in 5 to 10 years to remind you how sad the Shay looks as there has been no further investment as the Council will not put any more money in to a loss making stadium.

I am not so sure about that as some Town fans would see that as gettng back their own stadium, one other question is how many people does the Halifax town Supporters trust represent and the applicant for an ACV?

No need to be so underhand about it. We're currently in a resession, unemployment is massive. Is bubba's plan going to create 3-400 jobs? Is it going to save the council and the ratepayers of Calderdale money in not having to pay the running costs of The Shay?
The council are in a difficult position. It's hard to turn down a cash offer for something in an age of austerity.

I`m very surprised that he decided to " pick up the gauntlet " with his latest "plan B " this time around as the last time when he went against Bosomworth hardly anyone backed him. He ended up loseing all credability over the affair and even the Town Board refused the Trust money they had raised . What`s going to happen this time is anyones guess but someone once said " a week is a long time in politics" and so if a reduction of rent suddenly sounds good to Mr B ` and he suddenly feels happy about TA buying the place where does that leave Bubba? As I cannot see many backing him up because they didn`t last time The Trust is all but in name defunct as the Board would not deal with them ,sad situation all round really .

As most of you know I am a little bit simple.
Who is Bubba?
Who does he represent?
Is he publicly elected?
?
Incidentally saw a rather nice people carrier today with "Reactive Media" emblazened on it.
"Pest Control"
Could come in handy.

| Why would anyone oppose the sale of The Shay?
Anyone with knowledge of former Bradford City Chairman Gordon Gibb's pension fund.
Anyone with knowledge about The Goldstone Ground, Brighton,
Nene Park, Rushden,
Feethams,Darlington
Plough Lane, Wimbledon
And numerous other sports grounds, not just football stadia.
Anyone with knowledge of The Thrum Hall ground fiasco.
Anyone with knowledge of previous Halifax Town Chairmen.
Anyone with knowledge of the ‘Save our Shay’ campaign by both sets of supporters a few years back.
Apart from the meccano set in the corner The ground is looking its best in nearly 100 years.
Anyone who does not fall for the Labour B.S. about how much it costs to run The Shay. They have had long enough to utilise the office space and leisure facilities.
If you have no knowledge of the above it is no wonder you want The Shay sold. If you have no knowledge of the above you should really keep quiet and try thinking a little.
