Well I am excited about seeing Brannighan play in a Fax shirt next year!! Like Calland says he is an organiser which is just what we need and his kicking game is something we need more as that has let us down this year IMO.


On a side note, it is dissapointing to see Gov leave so would like to thank him for his efforts and hope he finds a club (which he will have no probs with) and stays injury free for the rest of his rugby career.

First quality signing Fax have made, need 2 wingers, 2 centres, and 2 big props to follow, to complete a good team.

all we need at fax was a stand off which we have in branigan and stanley gene. a centre we could do with and for props i think with aizue and gene there if thats where they can play then we are ok in that department so for me i would like to see fax sign a centre

A good signing and just what the team has needed for 12 months. Maybe now that will help settle team selection down and players will find themselves playing in more familiar postions week to week.
Releasing Govin was a tough one, and has played well over the past month, however i think his past record with injuries maybe didnt help his situation.

As regard to the 1 down 1 to go, are you refering to the major depatures disclosed by nosey parker? With all respect to Mike, i wouldnt call it major.

It's a shame to lose Govin, but Fax have been fair here. As Branighan would be first choice and Mick will want to play and we certainly wouldn't carry a spare half back on the bench in games. As beswick and penky can fill in if an injury happened during a game. So it's best all round for both parties.

Good luck Mick, you'll get snapped up pretty quickly I would think.

Pleased with the signing of Branighan but gutted for Govin, can't think of another player so unlucky with injuries, especially with the talent of his.

At least he left with such a great game for us in the final. Best of luck wherever you go Mick.

For what its worth I`m not too sure about this deal. It just doesn't feel that right because I am not sure he the right type of player we need. Also I hope we haven't broken the bank to get him. Releasing Govin if it is a done deal is a major gamble and could come back to haunt us!

Wasn't Branighan one of the main reasons why they turned us over at their place?

If i recall they were crap at the shay but a different team when we played them again, Barrow also lost at home to them.

If Branighan was one of the key players behind this then I think we have made a great signing.

GOVIN-Mick is a great player who can often win matches BUT he has hardly played much for us and sadly for him he cant last a season without a bad injury. Sadly we have a Cap that we need to follow and we cant afford to have a quality player sat half the season out which has happened with Mick since he signed for us and before when at Leigh! Best of luck Mick.

BRANIGHAN-Fresh blood was needed especially to fill the Nr 6 Jersey. He had a good season at Gateshead and has a good kicking game and is an organiser-something we have missed this season. He also has played in the NRL as well as with Ben Black in the NSW Junior sides. Ben rates him very highly as do others.He holds a Maltese Passport and has played for Malta in 2005 and 2006 and as such is a non quota player. Just one concern is that the reason he did not feature more in the NRL was due to knee injuries! But then we should have cover with Gene and also young Bowman. Welcome Luke.

The stand off and organizer we have been crying out for, with the calm, experienced head of Stanley will be a good year next year.

As for Mick? A quality player, but with a smaller cap we can't carry him if injured - would be wasted money. Good business IMHO.

I think Mick is a player that is going to come back and bite us on the bum big style, have to say I'm very disappointed with the decision, he would have been on a pay as you play contract so wouldn't have cost us if he'd not been in the team and has been outstanding for us whenever he's played, I don't recall him ever having a bad game for us. Good luck Mick, you'll pick up a new club easily, hopefully not the other blue and white team though.

DWB, our second loss only plays one game good game a season and most of us won't be bothered about him going, has he signed for you? I'd heard he wasn't being offered terms about 2 months ago so it's likely that other teams have been contacted by his agent which would be how Des could "break" the non event to us on Sunday

Maybe due to the Cap going down MH & MC did not feel they could risk having Mick sat on the sidelines and possibly eating up valuable cash. I think in a perfect world Mick would have been kept on, but the risk due to him often being injured was too great to carry. Mick is a quality player but is it worth having somebody who you can rely on just half or three quarters of the season? I am sure Mick will want to prove everybody wrong but think Fax have been fair to him in the past as now and there will be no grudges unlike when he left Leigh.
