It's in the best interests of Halifax that the likes of Celtic and Harlequins do well. We have a far better chance of a franchise if the likes of Wakey and Salford do badly. Anyway, all this franchise stuff stinks and I'm enjoying the rugby even more than '98 so they can stick celtic, the queens and sl up their ass. Lets talk good ol' honest NL

I would disagree with your first part, if they do well it means we will never get the chance to get back into SL as the RL world will say we need more 'expansion clubs' like these and admit Toulose while saying no to 'heartland clubs' like us.
Wakey are at risk without a new ground yes, Salford will be safe as they will not want any 'egg on their face' after allowing them in this year.
My fear is that the RFL will not want to risk a challenge in court by any existing SL club and keep them all in.

But you have a point its good where we are NOW, but was it in 2005 and 2006 ask yourself?
I didn't think so at the time and long term we will always lose out to SL clubs, the very best players want full time RL and more money and with the rise of Bradford before, Leeds now and maybe Huddersfield we are under threat imo.
To get a SL franchsie in 2011 must be our aim, you have to have ambition to be the best and whilst being the best at Championship level is where we have to be now, which is great, we need to aim ever higher.

It`s all well and good saying yes we want to be in Soooper League but who is going to put all that money in year after year to keep us competative. I don`t know of anybody prepared to put something like 7 or 8 hundred thousand in a year to keep us there .One thing I don`t want is being like we were before .it got soul destroying and we hit rock bottom.
Course if I am wrong and you all know folk who will put money in then I say yes lets go for it.

with some sensible progression, like the way we are developing at the moment, i am optimistic we could mould a team that could compete in the lower reaches of the super league.

the way the clubs situation has improved across the board over the last 2 seasons has been fantastic. what we need to do now is keep it going while not blowing silly money on trying to expand too fast

why wouldnt we be able to compete at a complete shay in 3 years time with crowds around 4000+ when others are?

Given that in the last round of applications there was a clause saying to be eligible to apply for a license you had to agree that you wouldn't sue if you weren't picked I don't imagine this would be a problem.

Because someone is puting big money in as Howard Posner said one time for every 1,000 below 10,000 you need 100,000 to keep in Super League so if as you say we may get 4,000 then we need a person or persons to put in£ 600,000 in.It would be nice if possible but I don`t know where there coming from.Don`t think business can do it in the way of sponsorship either.

Im enjoying this league immensley (coupled with our performances). Yes there are some poor teams (look at tonights TV game) but on it's day the top 5-6 could all beat each other.

Id rather be in a competitive league & enjoy my rugby rather than be whipping boys, hoping for a spark to make us better. We are slowly getting things right on & off the field & when it's time for us to move up, we will & be able to hold our own.

if we were in SL we could have a completely full time squad with players as good as, and probably a bit better than, ours at the moment. Surely we'd compete!

it would depend on who you could recruit. Look at Widnes this year. They are full time (well almost all of them are) but they have everage players. Being full time doesnt automtically mean that you will pick up the best players. After all, we'd be starting from the bottom & have slim pickings. It's taken Cas a good couple of years to be able to attract decent calibre players.

im injoying my rugby to. i think toulouse will get straght in to SL they want 2 french teams so the french international side gets better so these more comp for England. we cant control it, we can only hope.

i believe the town of halifax can provide a decent super laegue team given time and the correct management

You still need someone with pots of money to put in ,mind you if your so certain you must have the money. I hope so would be nice.

Bradford only got where they are by getting on a huge wave of enthusiasm in 1996 (helped by a Wembley Final followed by another) which gave them credibility and a feel good factor which like sheep people followed.
That included folk with money, human nature is people want to be associated with success not failure.
So you never know, yes we need to be more professional off the field, we are getting there but I think we have still have some way to go yet, won't say why but I do.
We do need a backer like Hull KR and Widnes have and its the ONLY reason Huddersfield are rising - Ken Davy and his brass.
