Its pretty hard to argue with the end result of the end of the season though over the past couple of years, its hard to sack a coach who has been to 2 successive grand finals and won 1 of them, that was probably down to the players and not him but he was still in charge of the team that was doing it.

i can see that maybe we need a change but i can understand why the board is having trouble coming to the decision that i believe now all of us think is right

Steele wont do anything, in a year where we should have brought more fans down to The Shay, we're only make people go away, I'ts too expensive for people to come down and watch Matts circus and hope that we have got out of bed....

Anyone who thinks a coach asks players to lose the ball & miss tackles at the rate some of the players are doing is wrong in their heads. Do you think that's what they practice ?

i know what you mean but quite simply he aint getting the best out of his players on the pitch and i would put alot of money on it a new coach would be able to and not concede like we do now

No but he does instill commitment, pride, passion and a belief in yourself. All of these traits are lacking in 80% of those stepping onto the pitch. Also his constant tinkering baffles me and in my opinion shows his tactical nouse (i.e. None whatsoever). Penky played his best game in nearly 12 months by being on the pitch 80 mins last week and running the show. What does he do this week?. . . . . . . Gives him 40 minutes (total) of game time. Gleeson managed 80 mins no problems. I admit I am not and never really have been a fan of Callands but the rot needs to be stopped in its tracks and I'd rather have Hilda coach them the rest of the season than MC. We look totally clueless and like we cannot defend in our own 20. These are all things Col he has had 3-4 years to sort out and has failed to do so.

Our team got back from being down to leading 25-24 today, they just went soft by being less energetic than their opponents.

is the reason we are lettng so many point away in the last quarter of the game because we are just not fit enough?

Half the Warrington players that weren't good enough under Paul Cullen are now holding down a place in the best squad in SL under Smith. It has everthing to do with the coach.

No but the coach is supposed to coach them on how to make the correct decisions in defence. MC clearly cant do that.

Its a mixture of both Poor Coaching and sub standard players as well as others who are in the comfort zone.

COACHING wise we have always had problems with Defence, Discipline and having set plays. That is down to Matt Calland. I also feel he is way to close and friendly to the players and why some seem to be in a comfort zone. I dont think the problems have ever been properly addressed and we have around 5 Former players on the Coaching side and am not sure thats good. The Coaching Staff seems to be a Old Boys Club.

PLAYERS also need to have a look at themselves. Failure to make a Tackle, Catch a ball or doing the basics is embarrassing. Everybody makes mistakes, but its how you recover from them mistakes and for me the players seem to be in a comfort Zone and just dont seem to be concerned when making errors. Its clear some players are not of the same Quality of Royston, Maloney, Wrench & Larder. But that does not excuse players failing to put effort in. The pathetic effort in defence is simply not on. If players-no matter who they are cant be bothered then use players who will. We have an U23 Squad and would rather see them play than others who simply are past it or who cant be bothered!

COMFORT ZONE. Fax has a reputation of a drinkers/Social club. Calland has a reputation as being good mates with all the players rather than being a Tactician like a Daryll Powell, Ian Millward. I am not a fan of it and would rather we had a Coach who is not frightened to make big calls but also one who can read the game and change things in a second.

I dont think the fault just lies with Calland. But he brought the players in and he is responsible for performances and results. The players are making the mistakes, failing to do the basics etc. SOme of that is not Matts fault. But a number of things like defence Strategy and game plans are. I just feel that Matt Calland will not take this club further than what he has done. I also dont feel he can change the way Fax play. The same mistakes/Failings have been there since the start, despite which players are brought in.

I have a couple Questions that maybe the Calland followers could answer:

As for the players not being good enough, yes they are, they can compete and beat any side in this league. They are not consistent or disciplined though, Matt doesn't drop the ball but I would like to see some 'dull' consistent rugby with a bit of honesty, as Stevo would say 'Its not a tickling contest'

But...... well make a late run, get into the play offs, probably get past the first round of play offs, and well all sit back and listen to Mr Steele and Matt telling us 'its a transitional period' and then go into 'we made the play offs' 'We made the NRC semi's' 'We had a day in the Sun in the Challenge Cup' 'Were building for the future'.... While the season ticket uptake dwindles, the crowd average around 2k and some of the better players move on.....

Were playing the same style we always have done.

Who signed the players that are'nt good enough tho???

Back in Jan.- Feb. not all the fans thought we had signed a bad squad,( unless most of them were lieing at the time). No player who we signed at the time became a bad player over night, so it's something in the water down at the Shay the ground staff or somebody who can't get the best out of the players or see what's going wrong with the team under his control or the lack of it.

To be fair Rich, BRLFC resurgence is down to 1 man and that is our Coach , he has put big time charlies who were not producing the goods in their place and now everyone is fighting for each other as well as thier own berth.

Now I dont get to see the games live, only tune into the radio and watch the vid later etc but just go on our forum,we were clueless, unfit, unable to foolow a game plan, did weeven have a game plan, big timers going through the motions etc this was only 3 weeks back............now Mr Wright has had enough time to stamp his authoirty sp we are transformed, is that just a coincidence .........I think not.

our goal line defence is absolutely appalling,90% of the time we dont even lay a hand on them.....pathetic!!!!
